NEW PC NWN RUNNING CHOPPY PLZ HELP

               okay so i just build a new PC and installed nwn and both expansions.  I patched,  and downloaded CEP everything i needed to play on my favorite Anphillia server.  Well,  after spending $1500 dollars on a new rig, i hoped for it to run well.   IT turns out that its running really choppy.  It seems like a program is trying to open up on the desktop while i have nwn open,  like little flickering in and out random colors or like black lines like shadows.   I can tell it wants to run so fast,  the graphics look beautiful.  Just choppy and laggy. 


Im using windows 7 ,  ive ran it in compatibillity mode ( the only way it would run ).   I got the latest driver updates on the GPU.

               Did you disable UAC and all anti-virus, anti-phishing and other security apps??

Has your current video driver been updated to provide OpenGL support?

               Yep I have it checked for run as administrator.   I dont think any firewall is up windows fire wall maybe?  the antivirus doesnt have any options for blocking programs.

Yes i updated to the latest drivers.  

SLI? Whats that stand for?   I don't beleive i have.    And I changed the affinity CPU #  from 0 to 1.

SLI stand for: Scalable Link Interface, NVIDIA's method for connecting two or more video cards together to produce a single output;

You can turn it off in the display driver, If you have it turned on.

               My standard list of suggestions for people having lag:

1) Turn off Hardware Sound;
2) Turn off Shiny Water;
3) Try running the game in a window;

               I have i5 and did not do the cpu change.
I suspect it something to do with your graphics card.I think you have graphics on your processor?Try using those to test.
Also make sure you have the right directx.

               When you patched, did you use the Critical Rebuild?

Is NWN the only game that behaves this way on your current rig?

Have you tried to play a vanilla v1.69 installation on a vanilla server and/or module?

The "latest" drivers are not always the best to play NWN or any other game that renders graphics with OpenGL (which is the reason I especially questioned this point in my previous inquiry).  Your card appears to use ATI/AMD technology and that manufacturer has developed Catalyst drivers that have eventually provided OpenGL support for gaming with older games per customer request.  nVidia has responded to their public in a similar manner.  How Gigabyte has responded to this issue is problematic so examine the driver specs and/or contact the manufacturer directly to find out. The generation of your driver has everything to do with the scope of its coverage and needs to be determined.

If you've played without similar problems on an older machine, a temporary swap in of the legacy card and driver that worked and then a vanilla server test run would reveal a lot for you.  If all goes fine, you've uncovered the source of the problem.

How do i turn off hardware sound?

Im not sure what a "Vanilla test version" is.   But yea it worked good on the old system.

               All i3, i5, and i7 CPUs have Intel graphics included, but the ports for those are going to be on the motherboard, and since this is a desktop build, the display should be attached to the port on the video card.  SLI is strictly nVIDIA.  "Crossfire" is AMD's dual-GPU system.

The HD 7870, TTBOMK, has only a single GPU aboard.

Vanilla just means without any custom/fancy stuff... :-P

But also make sure "Shiny Water" is turned off. There's always been problems with that:

               Your directX is too recent - nwn needs directX 9 which you can install alongside directX 11. The installer should be on your nwn disks.

As far as the terminology I've used above, "vanilla" - with regard to a NWN installation - means "without CEP, PRC or other haks or non-Bioware utilties".  In the same respect, a "vanilla" server would be a Persistant World that required only the standard default resources to play there... a good place to test a new installation.

The custom resources may demand either a higher graphics potential to render correctly or present a possible conflict with the default resources (the files that installed with the basic disc(s) and official Bioware patches).  I always recommend digesting resources in logical stages for new installations - first, what comes on the disc (for Diamond, it would be v1.66), then after each patch has been installed (users have reported that, at times, multiple attempts at patching are needed to get a pristine installation) and finally after installing each hak pack (CEP, etc.).  Though my approach may seem neurotic to some, it is an objective means to help identify many of the more common installation problems... and it works.                Hmm,  I tried reinstalling the game and CEP.    I still seem to have no luck here.   

How do i post screen shots on here?
