Aurora Toolset Problem
« on: November 14, 2011, 12:54:07 am »

                Heya,
I have a problem with the toolset, whenever I open a new module, or create or open an area, I get an error message...

It looks Something like this:

Access violation at address 695A394Cin module "nvoglv32.dll" . Write of
address 695F1620

If I press okay, it just comes back, and the only way to get it to close is to Log off my acount.

it doesn't always come up, but it usally does. It's quite annoying.

Any idea on how to solve this?

Thanks,
Pony of Sin

P.S.
I use a windows vista 32bit opperating system.

That's an OpenGL DLL that is burping.

Are you certain you have a driver with full OpenGL support installed?  BTW, what vcard are you using?

If you mean the Overide.Bak folder, then yes, plenty.

Nope, it's in it's own folder outside the program files.

NVIDIA GeForce 6100 GPU and NVIDIA nForce 405 MCP is an on-board GPU.

Please read the entire post before clicking on any of the links provided.

This is your driver page for your particular card for Vista OS. Your particular card is listed under the supported tab:

6100 nForce 420, 6100 nForce 405, 6100 nForce 400

Additionally, you can allow Nvidia to detect your GPU and select the best driver for you - it might also find an updated one compared to the driver I found searching their site. It's the first option on the page.

That will update you to the latest driver. Reboot and try playing the game as well as loading up the toolset.

For reference, I updated to this driver for Skyrim and both games run fine - it's a certified driver and not a beta.

If you run into an issue when the new driver is installed that is not relevant to the Toolset, revert back to your previous one. Screen flashes, black spots on your desktop, or blue screens of death are some examples.

You may, at this point - if you did encounter problems - attempt a previous driver from here and use the below options to find all driver releases for your particular card.

Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 6 Series
Product: GeForce 6100 nForce 405
Operating System: Windows Vista 32-bit
Language: English
Recommended/Beta: Recommended/Certified

Click SEARCH!

Try the next oldest driver and work your way down.

Updated drivers and the Toolset

If you still receive the error when attempting to open the Toolset after you've updated your graphic drivers, it's to the OpenGL driver page but do the above first with the regular driver, the OpenGL driver might already be bundled with the latest driver Nvidia released. I don't know.

OpenGL Driver

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and install - Download for Windows 7 and Vista (32-bit) file.

Still does not work?

Your on-board graphic card may not have OpenGL support for the 3D requirement of the Toolset.

FP!

It is a sad fact.  The video requirments to run the toolset are higher then the requitements to play the game.

Usualy, these access violation errors show up when you open an area of an existing module in which you have
previously created an area with a "Custom Tileset" either in a hakpack attached to the Module and is not anymore or a "Custom Tileset" that was in the override folder previously and is not anymore. So when you try to open the area, the toolset can't
find the tiles(models) since the "Hakpack" or the "Override content" is not available anymore.

You say you have an "override.bak" with plenty of content in it, this folder is usualy created after you have updated and chose to backup the override folder... perhaps you created an area with a custom tileset that used to be in your override folder? which now is the override.bak folder created by the NWN update that the toolset/game doesn't care about?

I do not understand this question at all I'm afraid...  I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to technical stuff. So I don't know how to answer it. Sorry.. :/

Nah my system can run the damn thing fine, this is a re-install after my hard disk killed itself, but all the hardware is the same spec.

I'll try instaling the drivers that Fester Pot sugested to-night.

Pony Of Sin,
