Cant install NWN Platinum
« on: September 11, 2011, 06:30:44 pm »

Ok, I removed NWN from my pc some months back, and now I want to play again, so i am trying to install the game. I have Windows XP Pro sp3.

Well, Disk 1 installs, but I have to manualy install it by clicking My Computer, Drive D , then the setup icon. It asks me for all the codes, and installs disk one, but when it asks me to put in Disk 2, it doesnt find a path and does nothing. I type in various paths, and it wont work. Please help me someone, thanks in advance.

I have winXP SP3, too, and reinstalled nwn after a hd crash on my ancient laptop last week. It worked flawlessly, first the 3 CD edition of nwn, then SoU, then HotU and finally the 1.69 critical rebuild patch and the german dialog.tlk file back in the nwn folder. So I can't think what went wrong in your case. When the windows installer asked for the next cd, I put it in the CD drive and hit <ENTER>. That's all it took. The path was D: in my case, the path of the CD drive and it worked without entering anything manually. Can you provide more information? It is quite possible that your CD 2 is broken somehow.

Greetings

Well, when I put in the first cd , it does not autorun, so instead, I have to click D drive, then a list of icons comes up in the NWN cd folder. I click on Setup, then it asks me a few things, along with asking me to type in the cd keys. I type them all in, and click ok, then it installs the first disk. Then a box comes up and asks me for the second disk, only path it says is D:  . I click ok or enter and nothing happens at all. I know I used to reinstall the game, and it ran on its own, I neve rhad to click on Setup in that folder.

It may be the security settings of SP3 that stop autorun disks from starting if the software is older or not Microsoft certified or whatever. Or you just switched autorun off?

As for the second disk not doing anything, I can only suspect that the disk is somehow damaged.
