Issues connecting to multiplayer server
« on: July 02, 2011, 12:40:49 am »

Not sure if this is the place to post, but, it seemed close.

A friend and I have been trying to start up a game of NWN multi, but, ever time one of us sets up the server, the other one cannot see the server on the lists. We've opened up the port that's displayed on the top right corner of the screen of the advanced options, and made sure it was always posted to the internet, but we still can't see it.

Game Version: NWN 1  1.69, fresh intstall
Game Language: English
Retail or Digital: Direct 2 Drive
Processor Manufacturer: Intel
Operating System / Service Pack: Windows 7, latest update

Better to use the nwserver application that's in your nwn folder than run a server from within the game. (then if the host nwn crashes, the server will keep running).

As for your issue, it might be a router problem. Try http://portforward.com/

In the nwnplayer.ini do you have:
GameSpy Enabled=1
?

Alternatively you might also be able to do a direct connect to your IP.

Got a direct connection going from my box to the server. Going to try it with a friend in a bit. Wish me luck!
