Assistance needed

               Hi all,

Ive recently dug up nnw from under the spare bed, where its sat after giving up installing some time ago

Ive tried to install NWN and Shadows of undentide onto my vista computer but i can get it to work.

I think i need to update with 1.69 sou critical rebuld but i cant find download page of bioware and when follow liks in other threads it simply goes to main page.

The problem is i can hear it when it starts but my moniter goes blank and says' Out of range 29.4kHz - 94 Hz'

i have to close with task manager, although one time by having a hissy and smashing keys, a window came up i could see intro on that small window only (1/4 screen)

Any help greatly appriciated.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 duel core 3800+
1.5GB ram
Radeon z1600 series

               Ok. ive seemed to have solved one problem yet have encountered another.

I foolishly discovered it was trying to to run of 800x600res. Have changed to 1280x1024 75Hz and bingo. though i was all go.

Yet i developed character and now each time i attempted to talk to first person the game crashes... any ideas?

               Have you updated the graphics driver on that antique since you last used it for NWN1?  NWN uses OpenGL, and ATI went with Direct3D instead, although the X1600 wasn't too bad with OpenGL, as long as the driver used is old enough.

               Hi Kaxxp,

Do you have the Heroes edition of Neverwinter Nights by chance, or some other odd sounding bundle outside of Diamond or Platinum collection?

There is a known error with the Heroes version when you go and speak with the first NPC in the Prologue. The installation is missing the convo.bif file from the Neverwinter Nights\\data directory, so the game crashes.

With the legacy Neverwinter Nights site being taken down by Bioware, the links associated with this file for folks to download is no longer available. I've compressed the file myself and it chunks in at 157megs! Too big to e-mail.

               Hi guys thanks for the replys,

I indeed have the heroes version of NWN. good pick up FP. Not good re the site being taken down, (is that a recent thing due to hackings?) i though it was strange that all links to updates were going straight to bioware homepage.

Thanks again for your help, i guess its a trip to the shop to purchase diamond collection if i can find it. At least i know now.

               Hi again,
Thought id re post here instead of starting new thread. I ended up finding above file convo.bif on the net and fixed that problem. however found that the version was riddled with other errors. enemies wouldn't even fight me. any way,

Ive gone and download diamond edition for GOG, Ive had to run it with 1.68 as for some reason when i upgrade to 1.69 it lags unbelievably and is unplayable. any it was working OK for me and got into game, now its seems when the game goes into night. i my screen is almost pitch back and even using a torch does nothing, even during the day i can see around however my character is just a shadow unless i hover mouse over it. (same goes for other characters around)

Almost ready to give up on NWN but when i was playing really getting into it. any suggestions, ive dropped tried dropping all the video settings to lowest but nothing.
