Toolset and Windows 7
« on: June 23, 2011, 02:21:34 am »

Ok, so I have the Diamond edition on disc and Windows 7 on a dual-core computer. Using the install instructions for Windows 7 found in these forums, the game runs perfectly. No hiccups, max settings, no crashes whatsoever.

However I cannot even load the Toolset. It gives me the "cannot create 3d preview window, update your drivers" message every time.

My computer and all its software are 100% up to date. What's wrong here, and can I fix it? My graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 and I have all patches installed for the game.

You do not have the proper OpenGL drivers required to use the toolset. As I am a Nvidia fan, I'm unable to tell you where you have to go to get these for your ATI card.

FP!

odd I can say that i got the toolset up and running on a win7 system with the same ATI card.

all i had to do was install the game and it expansions then running the 1.69 patch. and I could start it up without changing the compability settings. maybe you don't have the old Direct-X drivers installed? (9.0c) the new once (10,11) doesn't cover the needs so you need to have both installed. without them you will have a hard time starting most of the old games.
