               Hello everyone!
First off I would like to apologize for possible mistakes, english is not my native language.

I've been having this problem for a long time, when I join into multiplayer the server list pops up and server starts tumbling down, so no problem finding servers. In history and favorites and buddylist servers also show as they should.

EXCEPT ONE, and that is off course the server that I have been playing on and off for roughly 7-8 years.

Now I can't join it anymore! I know it's up and running, there has been many times that my friends have confirmed that they are are playing on it (it will show my friends as offline in the buddylist when they are on that server), I cannot* direct connect to it, it will just give the standard "cannot find server" message. In favorites it just shows as offline (showing the ip) even when I know it's running and that I have the correct ip.

*I noticed that sometimes I can join it from the direct connect, but 95% of the times it will just not find the server.
And if I do happen to find the server and join it, if I leave the server to switch character for example it will take about 30-35 attempts with direct connect before I can find it again, if I'm lucky.

Have anyone experienced the same type of problem?
As I wrote, I have no problem whatsoever joining other servers and I get plenty of servers showing up in the server list, it just seems to be this server that I'm having problem connecting to.

Cheers
Daniel

I don't know if this will help someone else get you a resolution, but which server are you talking about and what is the IP you're trying to connect to?

If it's not showing up as on-line in the Server Browser, perhaps the IP address has changed?

The server I'm trying to connet to is Zombieland, (current ip: 98.244.152.44:5121) it has changed IP a couple of times over the years but I do have the right IP since I'm able to join the server 1 out of 30/40/50 times. And this is on times when I know that it is up and running, for example I can speak with my friend over msn when he is in there but I still will have a really hard time connecting to it.

Actually I got lucky yesterday right after I posted this and managed to join the server, but like I said, it only happens very rarely, so it clearly seems to be some problem with my computer attempting to join this particular server, can't figure out why, if it was some router/switch problem then it should affect nwn alltogheter right? not just one server.

Thanks for your reply!

I have had a problem like this in the past although I can't recall the server names.  It has to do with the relative location of the server to your ISP.  Sometimes a PW will move to a server which isn't located at a "convenient" node to connect to your ISP and even if it does, there may be lots of noise in the path.

The next time you are able to connect (if that ever happens again), run a traceroute to find out the location and route of the server to get to your ISP.  Also, check your ping.  It will probably be very low or inconsistent.  If you can find other servers with a similar location, you will probably have the same problem.  Unfortunately, the only remedy is waiting until they change out to a server with better proximity to you.
