bioware/gamespy connection issues?
« on: November 15, 2010, 10:39:46 am »

l am getting some really strange problems here, when l play nwn on this server, l keep getting this disconnects(except i dont lose internet connection) it only looks like l do in-game, like everything stops and l can move around and all but everything l do does not get registered and everything i say does not appear. The players that's online says l can walk around and write while l am in these weird ''freezes'' anyone ever had this problem before? :S l've tried multiple things reinstall, going back on version for video card and windows...also tried nslookup and pinging bioware.com and gamespy.com, also l cannot connect to bioware homesite(but l tested it on someone elses net, and worked fine) but l'm getting ping from bioware and when l try to enter the site i look at right corner at bottom of explorer and it says it connected to bioware then stops at ''Waiting for bioware.com'' now l dont know if this has something to do with the weird issues l've been having with online gameplay but l really need help here lol:crying:

Could be lots of things. ISP, security ware/virus ware incompatibility are probably my first suspicion. While this "freezing" is happening, are you able to browse normally?  If not, it's likely one of the aforementioned.

The freezing happens all the time, l can't play for more than 10 minutes before the game acts as if l lost connection, l can use the internet as usually yes, but bioware has been unreachabe for weeks now...l've tried disabling all firewalls and virus programs, this was not a problem earlier...this problem just suddenly came over night -.-

One thing you might do to help expedite others' input would be to publish your full system/hardware/game installation specs as specified in the Start here sticky.  If it's a card or driver issue, others in the community that may have experienced it may help to rule out at least those causes.  Oft times these things can be traced back to some customizations (like OpenGL support) of the newer hardware configs.  Just a thought.

edit: Oh, one other thing... have you been testing it out on a broad range of servers or just a select few?  If only a few, which ones?

As far as the problem "connecting to the Bioware homesite", that's via browser isn't it?  And if that's the case, then it seems like a possibility that authentication is whacked for some reason.  And that, unfortunately is a Bioware issue '<img'>  Use the same email to support as those who have problems with their CD keys not working.  I think the email link at the bottom of this page is the one they use.

Let me get this straight:  When you type in the address http://www.bioware.com/ into your browser no page loads?

That's a local browser/firewall issue and nothing Bioware can help you with.  Are you trying to access game sites via a school or company-owned connection?  In many cases, they control via firewall all users' access to sites they deem as inappropriate on their server so you will need to contact the applicable admin to gain gaming access.  Just checking.

Also check all the security certificates in your browser settings (there should be a list available) to see if the one for Bioware has "mysteriously" disappeared.

But if I have completely misunderstood your problem description and this is your basic ISP then either contact the ISP to report the issue OR use the aforementioned email address and include the following in the message as their standard problem diagnosis format:

Subject: Enter Product Name - Enter BioWare User Name - Enter brief Issue Description (substitute your own specs in the title. of course)
