Character Fails to render in Character modification.
« on: September 13, 2010, 12:20:15 pm »

When I attempt to create a character in the character creation screen it goes fine up until the part where I chose the head and the body of my character. I get a flash of a body mesh but no skin and then it just stays black. I have searched online already but the only thing that was similar was something in NWN2 and that didn't help me solve the problem.

Game Version: NWN 1  1.69 (confirmed up to date) all the expansions
Game Language: English
Retail or Digital: Retail DVD
Processor Manufacturer:  Intel
Processor Type: Dual core Pentium D
Processor Speed: 3.00 GHz
Operating System / Service Pack: Windows Vista/SP1 (game is run in Compatibility mode) 32 bit OS
System RAM: 2 gigs
Video Card Manufacturer:ATI
Video Card Model: Radeon 4850
Video Card RAM: 512 megs
Video Card Driver Version: Catalyst version2010.0803.2125.36577
Sound Card Manufacturer: realtek
Sound Card Model: Unknown
Sound Card Driver Version: unknown
CD/ROM Type: unknown

For those unknown I didn't know where to look for the information.

Check near the end of this thread where the OP adjusted the Catalyst to get the models to work properly.

(I am assuming you have no custom overrides or haks installed currently like the CEP or similar.)

"I was fiddling around in my driver/CCC settings and noticed that while my Anistropic filtering was set to application controlled there was an option for "Enable high qualigy Anistropic Filtering" when I enabled it the character models worked again!"

I don't see the option for the Enable High quality Anisotropic Filtering anywhere on my system. I am not sure if I am suppose to have legacy or not.

Umm in the same thread, scroll up to my suggestion about video settings. When you can't see your PC it very often is that show environmental effects on characters  setting and the wrong video driver.
