Sorry for the double post, but I rigorously tested the glitch for a few hours..

It seems like the dynamic meshes are the main problem. Anything that moves or shifts. It's also a progressive problem.. one dynamic mesh will do a slight hit, but the more you have the worse it gets. I loaded up a module with none at all, and it was smooth as butter.

Well, I'm kind of torn here... I just lost some original human parts to get me, first a GTS 250, and later a GTX 285, just to be able to play NWN. Quite the investment.

If NVidia does fix the driver issue and the new series work with NWN flawlessly, I would be a great imbecile... much worse, a mutilated imbecile.

Well, I guess it is best in the long-run. When Diablo 5 comes out and the 700 series are all the rage, I may have detached myself from other body parts (who needs two lungs when one would suffice, anyway?) to get me an old 580!

I think it is the opposite, when I turned ON the extension limit and OFF the threaded optimization, NWN begun to run finally with a good FPS but the down side is that many textures look bad (they're low resolution like in the 16MB mode) and some textures appear complitely white. There is something very wrong with basic OpenGL acceleration here on the behalf of nVidia's drivers and I bet there are more games that are affected. NWN doesn't even use custom shaders except for the water, which is disabled. At least it is playable now but looks more ugly than with an old Geforce 2 card. These new fermi cards just can't be recommended for people who want to play old games and I wish I had bought a Radeon instead of this GT430.

Last report is that invidia have no fix for this issue as of yet, next update maybe... So it pushes the fix date back to April... [sighs] On it goes :/

Also, a possible workaround is mentioned there:

That doesn't look like it fixes the textures problem. If so, then it's no fix at all.

It doesn't fix the textures and so forth. The workaround just disables some functions however most people who are still playing NWN are doing so on servers that use haks and what not is my guess. CEP being the most well known one. And thus the games FPS drops regardlessly and so the problem persists and by proxy the afore mentioned workaround is no fix at all.

Just an update after reviewing the NVIDIA thread on this issue. It looks like a fix might be attempted in the April driver update.

My Geforce 9800 runs this game perfectly, but my shiny new 460 runs it as fast as a turtle can run.
I hope Nvidia can fix this because it's downright sad if they can't.

I just tried the new 270.51 beta drivers and the frame rate is still very low (16 fps). Apparently this release was just for Dragon Age 2. (GeForce 460)

In all honesty, it's taking so long for them to fix this issue that at this point getting another graphics card is now seriously being considered. If only I could afford it. Being out of work is no fun I tells you. Well I certainly hope the official driver update this month resolves the issue, I really do.

On one hand it's nice to see the "blame" being placed where it should be (i.e. not on the game/BioWare) for a change.

On the other hand, it must be a low priority for Nvidia to make sure there's support for a 9+ year old game (especially when the industry is in a disposable game mode of 10 month development cycles (hello EA, Atari, Activision...)).

Well... up to now I don't remember seeing a post where the user whined about the game itself. Most of us have been screaming our hearts out over Nividia, and ATI, and whatnot. However, I do concur when you say it must be a very VERY low priority for Nvidia, seeing as the NWN community, though faithful and resourceful, is quite small compared to the main population of videogamers who don't know about, or care nothing for NWN.

Indeed, which is why I doubt this issue will ever be fixed. Still one can hope.
