nwn and Gtx 460 graphics card

This from the man who convinced me of going through the excruciating process of downloading, installing virtual machine software, as well as a different OS in order to test my NWN issues?

Haha! Touche ' Jedijax! of course I only mentioned the windows virtual machine...(which I have since tested and but with a virtual MB graphics card...yikes not so smooth)

linux I think someone else mentioned.
have you tried the GLInterceptor yet Jedi? because that did significantly help me out...its a small painless install (no install just drag and drop dll and config file) and edit a simple .ini file.

I've seen the same thing.  Manuel G said it had been part of a larger issue and would try to see it in the June release....   I assume that will be the beta release.

we should def. keep this post alive until then and with a link since I would love to be able to just avoid this workaround altogether.

Looking at the previous stable driver releases:
19.7.2010
18.10.2010
18.01.2011
18.04.2011
So the June drivers will most likely be around 18.-19.

               Guys, I just wana say.

I used to think you were all complaining about nothing....
Then I actually tried my new gtx 460 on NWN, and OMG.

It runs smoothly, if I run around naked, but if I put on a any armor which has cloth showing, instantly drop to 20 fps.
Then if Im on screen with other players in their cloaks, I drop to 9, 10 fps etc.

And it gets worse with Spells Flying around,
At some points in the game, with Isaac's Greater Missile Storm going, the Missiles actually stretch across the screen, cause of the stutteryness.

OMG - How long has NVidia been working on this?

               Baaleos try using this method:

lordofworms wrote...

well I installed GLintercept and followed directions in this thread mentioned above:

http://forums.nvidia...dpost&p=1193251

and it seems to have fixed all of my issues...

Its still not 'perfect' all the time..but 90% of the time it behaves as I would expect a 1gig video card to deliver, the other 10% is a choppy camera move when I try to reorient it. but before that fix it was always choppy...

yay!!

I finally got around to testing out this solution on my XP system, and I can confirm Lord of Worms' results exactly. The problem is largely eliminated, and in particular the choppy beating of Pegasus wings that was really ruining my flying scenes is completely gone. As LOW said it's not perfect, but with this fix NWN definitely appears to be playable and usable with my GTX 470.

Yesterday a New Driver came out (possibly a beta)
475.33 I think it was.

I tested it, didnt resolve any issues.

               On the plus side -
My new GTX 460 SE really is powerful for every other game.

I run everything at MAX UBER ULTRA settings, and get no slow down what so ever.
But then an itty bitty game such as nwn which is over 10 years old, comes along, and grinds my fps to 10, or 7 in some cases.

Ditto! My GTX 285 with maxed out, overriding graphical options makes Modern Warfares and Black Ops look and perform like top-notch CG Movies, but my NWN stutters like nobody's business!

I made a simplified installation script for the OpenGL workaround.
This is NOT a solution, simply a workaround until NVidia gets their minds to actually fix this bug. This workaround gives me 30-60 fps on my GTX470. I hope it works for you as well. NVidia driver version 275.33
