Summons, companions, polymorph forms, etc... how to view?
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:34:15 pm »

This topic follows the inquiry which originated in a recent thread here ---> http://forum.bioware...anion-question/.

I remember in the dark corners of my mind that there was a viewer or editor that could access the files for all the creatures not found on the palette.  But the tool name escapes me and the link.  I do have the latest NWN Explorer installed but don't seem to able to locate the non-palette blueprints with it, so if that app DOES work, could someone please give me a hint how to hunt better?  A folder name perhaps? Or a search keyword of some kind?

If there's a handier tool to do this, please identify it.  That would be great. '<img'>

TIA,

Hip

Looks good, Shadooow, but must I install v1.71 first to use the erfs? ATM I am only looking to examine the creature information rather than edit it.

If you are only looking at viewing, there is The Krit's override add-on, but that hasn't made its way to the new vault.  NWN Explorer should have the files though they might be difficult to read as there are multiple 2da references by row number.  Summons are pretty much all nw_s_*, x0_s_*, x2_s_*.  Check the NWN wiki for the creatures you wish to view.  I believe the wiki does have all of these summons, polymorphs, companions, and familiars documented with fairly complete stats.

no, I wonder how did you came to this conclusion

but of course if you are not using CPP then these blueprints are not what you get in game - for bugged and incomplete creatures that The Krits package is recommended indeed - or check wiki and read all those issues and you can even fix them again yourself and doesnt have to use CP at al lol

It wasn't a conclusion.  It was a question resulting from reading the first note of the project's description...

1. these blueprints are drawn from game with patch 1.71 applied so you get all fixes to these creatures within this project.

In any case, it appears they can be used "as is" without any other prerequisites, which is fine by me.

I'll see if Rolo can expedite The_Krit's add-on which could be used locally.

Thanks for noting the prefix conventions for summons, WhiZard.  Using the nudge I've found the other non-paletted forms once I could recognize the abbreviations.  Now all that is left is locating where all the indexes are referenced and I should be good to go.  I'd like to export the arrays into spread sheet form for manipulation, comparisons, sorting, filtering, etc. without all the cut 'n pasting which is characteristic of grabbing data from formatted pages.  I'm sure the wiki can help me figure out how the data is interlaced and x-indexed.

Hip, I have a copy of The_Krit's palette override, if you want. It'll show all the companions/familiars/summons/etc in the standard palette.
