Unusable file module
« on: April 24, 2014, 11:22:09 pm »

Hey everyone !

I made a module recently but I have a very strange bug; yeah, I can't see my own file in my folder "modules" even if Aurora said me is in here and can open and edit it. I check the path, we are talking about the same "NeverwinterWinter Nights" folder. Great, even with a new installation the bug returns ! And of course the game can't read my module only Aurora. Strange no ?

Do you have any solutions ? Thanks in advance.

               Where are you saving the game to?

And what OS are you using?

Oh sorry, I use Windows 7 and my game are saved in C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition. I was be careful with the path of my file in Aurora and Windows but they don't agree with each other. And I have activated the reading of hidden files of my system, nothing.

<taking another stab...>

With win7 & 8, the files under the "program files" directory are zealously guarded by the User Access Control. One of the things you can do (not recommended, in general) is simply turn off UAC in your control panel -> user accounts.

The approach I took in 7, then 8 then 8.1, is to right-click the Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition folder and choose the Properties menu.

In the properties pop-up select the Security tab at the top and change the permissions for administrators to full control. This will allow the game to read and write to this folder.

Or reinstall it outside the Program Files - the default non GOG location is drive:/NeverwinterNights/NWN/

Oh, yeah. That, too :-P

Since I updated to the DnD complete (with NwN2 and all expansions), I just left it where the Atari installer put it so everything would work right with NwN2.

But I did have Diamond Ed. in the C: root back before that... Think I was still in Win7 then, also.

Thanks for all your replies

I have reinstalled the game out of my Program files in his orignal path, I'm trying if it's work.

I remind me I have the same issue in XP, but I don't remember how it ended... Maybe it's me after all.

               Also when you save your game from the toolset. Select the Save As.. option the first time you save. This way you can make sure that is is saving to the modules folder. there are times when the toolset defaults to a different folder on installation
