Toolset very slow on Windows 8
« on: September 22, 2013, 01:24:21 am »

               Hello.

New computer, Windows 8, and I'm finding that my toolset is very slow when opening windows, such as editing gear, opening/closing scripts, opening up creatures.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I have 8 and mine does the same thing--I click on item properties and it's a good 30 seconds sometimes before it comes up. I'm just happy I got the game installed at running right.

Have you considered an alternate boot config like coreboot if you still have access to the previous OS installation you used for the more optimized toolset performance?

Haven't used it myself, but others have... to run issue-laden legacy software on the newest OS's as Win95 & XP emulations.  I believe it is a Linux-based boot-up application.  And freeware besides.

Not actually advertising it here.  Just an idea.

               How slow is slow?
I am running on Vista and think mine is slow to start and open things.
No computer genius but I know several things can affect performance such as HD free space that Windows uses part of for some processes. I only have 30% free space so I expect my performance to be slower than if I had say 60% free HD space.
I also noted a degradation during gameplay, in the OC when those movies plays before Chapters, sometimes the sound cuts out for a few seconds.
