Adding Haks to CEP mods? - SOLVED
« on: August 31, 2013, 11:31:06 am »

               I've been playing around with the NWN toolset and everything the CEP has to offer, through guides I've managed to create and import my own portrait into the toolset of my own module alonside the CEP haks, the only problem is when I add my own hak with the custom portrait to the module all the extra portraits added by the CEP disappear and when I move my hak to the bottom of the list to give the CEP files priority my portrait disappears.
Does anyone have any advice or a guide about Hakpak clashes? as the ones I've read don't really go beyond creating them.

               <inserting...>

The way NwN indexes most of the assets is with 2da ( two dimensional tables) files.
CEP has one for all the portraits and your custom hak should have one. NwN will only use the topmost 2da - so your hak should go on top. You just need to make a copy of the CEP portraits.2da and add you custom portrait to the list of CEP portraits.
This is that whole aggravating "merging 2das" and "merging haks" issue that gets really fun with some of the more inter-dependent 2das :-P
PainOfDungeonEternal is working on NeverLauncher which we're hoping will have the ability to automate this. Until then, we must do it all by hand :-P

               If you just want the portrait for your own use just drop it in your portraits folder - you may have to create the folder.

               Thanks for your help Rolo Kipp, I had to update my portrait.2da to the one the CEP uses and I hadn't realised the CEP reserved portrait numbers up to 4000, but I did what you said and all the portraits are getting along fine now.
