<coughing modestly...>
Actually, the VPP has been live - in a rather infantile state - for a year or so :-P
I have only recently taken Cestus' hammer and tongs to it (boy! is he ticked off! He's still searching for them ;-), but it is far from finished. Never will be, probably.
But it is in a minimally functional state right now (you can upload projects (with a 50mb limit on file sizes) without waiting for "approval". Also, you can *transfer* large files from another web-source (ie, put it in your
Dropbox public folder, grab the link and use it to transfer in large files).
Haven't built the main catalog/search pages yet (Edit: working on those tomorrow, actually), nor migrated in the old content, but it's coming.
@ PHoD: No one should have to re-upload a thing. But it won't hurt if you do, to get a jump on things.
Edit: I'm working with Pain of Dungeon Eternal to integrate his content management API (the back end of
Neverlauncher) so that the Vault will make use of mirrors and community provided distribution and auto-downloading/updating/etc. neat stuff.
You *do* need to register with the VPP to create or edit projects (including uploads) but that's pretty much standard now-a-spam-days :-P
You do *not* have to register to browse or download. You do to contact project/article authors.
@ all: Sorry if I've been a faint presence here lately, but now you at least know one of the things I'm working on :-P
And *cough* link is in my sig. Has been ;-)
