A few days ago, I started a thread, asking if people made their own sounds?
Alot of people answered in a resounding NO.
Im actually surprised by this, because I demonstrated in a Youtube video, how I was able to create an entirely atmospheric scene reminiscent of the Alien movies, with nothing more than 2 sounds recorded on my iPhone.
I literally made funny noises with my voice, and e-mailed them to myself.
Each was about 14 seconds in length.
I guess what im suggesting people do, is give it a try themselves.
Record some audio with their phone, (iPhone Memo app worked well for me)
Save as a wav file, and put in override directory, start up toolset, and place a few sound objects around set to broadcast that sound.
Doesnt have to be brilliant sound quality, litterally making funny noises with your voice can accomplish much.
Not suggesting we all start new PW Servers with these sounds, but even creating a new area, and use these custom sounds, and then record a short 1 minute video for youtube would be a great demo.
I think Sound Scaping is one of the things that is often overlooked with regards to module area design, alot of people feel confined by the restrictions of bioware imposed sounds.
