Cutscenes Tutorial
« on: June 07, 2012, 10:35:31 am »

Now, I would mention imediatly that I am a complete noob to this and that I fail at scripting. My problem is that I cannot find a decent cutscene tutorial using the built-in cutscene control functions of NWN1 Aurora Toolset. They all either use what's-his-name's camera cutscene functions, which I will explain later why that doesn't work for me, or their for NWN2 Electron Toolset.

Reason I can't use the Camera Cutscene Functions thingy: I have version v.1.66.8074 and before I can import "in_g_cutscene.erf" it asks me to update the game. For some reason when ever I run the updater it comes up with this:

Your game version is: 1.66.8074 English

The patch has been aborted

I try looking at the site but it has been removed. Also, I wonder if this may be something to do with the fact it wont let me play multiplayer online, something about "not connected to master server", but that is besides the point.

Basically I need something that will work with the version I have, will not require any updates, wont need to much work, preferably will work with "Lilac Soul's NWN Script Generator", as I am rubish at scripting and require to use that, or to have a tutorial that, like the henchman section of the NWN Builders Guide or whatever it is called, states the needed script in script form.

Please tell me if you know of any tutorials that would cover this for me. All I need is to be able to generate simple cutscenes, in which I can use Lilac Soul's Script Generator to make all the special effects I need, and which I'snt to much trouble to make. I want to give similar effects as with when the sorceror arives at the start of "Kingmaker", of the bit at the keep, also near the start of "Kingmaker", of the bit when you first rest in "Shadows of Undertide", and so such.

Thanks.

Sry about not being able to reference an adequate cutscenes tutor but I have never found one myself.

But as for getting v1.69, for the Diamond & equivalents, download the critical rebuild here.

The updater hasn't worked in years.

Thanks HipMaestro. I will try this and see if it works. If it does, then I may well be able to use the camera scripting thingy I mentioned above, and if so will not need the tutorial. However, if anyone can come up with a really good tutorial for cutscenes with the basic functions, encase it doesn't work, I would still be happy to accept it.

Just running the file and it seams ligit. I think this may have solved my problems, so extra thanxs HipMaestro!
