Forest Tilesets And Sky Boxes
« on: June 05, 2011, 12:21:33 pm »

Just a quick query about aesthetics.

In your collective opinions, do forest areas look better with a skybox or just plain, appropriately coloured fog? There's a dire shortage of respectable-looking skyboxes for forest environments, so I'm leaning more on the foggy side of things at the moment. The skyboxes I've been able to find all tend to contrast a little too severely with the environment, and things end up looking far too... bright. Or too green. Or too pixelated.

So, thoughts? Questions? Derogatory comments? Fire away.

I've always preferred "open" skyboxes or rolling terrain ones for my own forest areas. I've not really liked any of the so called "forest" options myself. As for fog issues in general, you could just up the fogclip distance to 200 or so.
