Dark Energy - open beta
« on: April 12, 2016, 01:18:46 pm »

Dark Energy is now available for open beta test from Neverwinter Vault and proleric.com.

From past experience, it would be most helpful if bugs and comments were reported here, as that provides a structured resource that other players can easily search. Of course, if you'd rather comment here or at the Vault, fine.

Just downloaded it.  Looks totally awesome.

Can the Courtier class be used in other modules?

Not easily. You'd have to override their class tables with mine.

Also, the Nonchalance feat, which gives courtiers a Charisma bonus to AC instead of armour, is unique to Dark Energy's script system.

Modders are welcome to use any of this, of course.

the Nonchalance feat ... gives courtiers a Charisma bonus to AC instead of armour.

What does that mean? Aren't AC and armour the same thing?

               AC is explained here.

Nonchalance provides an armour bonus based on charisma, minus the base AC of the clothing. So, a courtier with a Nonchalance armour bonus of +8 or better has exactly the same AC whether they wear rich clothing (AC 0) or plate armour (AC 8). Like D'Artagnan or Milady de Winter, they dodge the bullets by pure charm.

Oooops, posted a bug report on your site but under the wrong game heading (left a note as a second post in the topic). Sorry.

No worries. I moved it here and added some information to the title. Hope that's OK.

Players should avoid asking companions for advice at present, as the feature isn't implemented yet, and causes bugs. If you have already done so, please apply this fix.

Thanks to Tarot Redhand for providing the data to track this down.

The advice bug is fixed in the 0.02 patch, available from Neverwinter Vault and proleric.com.

If you have a saved game, it is safe, and beneficial, to install this patch, which will correct the problem going forward, without the need for console commands.

This patch is rated Important (Non-Critical).

Thoroughly enjoying the module at present, although I feel lost at times.

DItto for me too.  Am enjoying it but at times don't know what to do next.

But I'm sure some of it is due to the fact you said this was a rough cut version of what is to come.  And that I am also very dense as well.  '<img'>

@ Nick the Noodle @ brgjoe - by all means PM me (or whatever) if you have examples of things that aren't clear. In theory, the journal, sorted to priority order, should be sufficient, so if it isn't, I'd like to fix it. There will eventually be a companion advice feature, too, so it would help to know what needs clarification.

The 0.03 patch, available from Neverwinter Vault and proleric.com, is a cumulative bug fix, which also has a tool for recovering horses trapped in no-go areas.

As before, if you have a saved game, it is safe, and beneficial, to install this patch, which will correct the problem going forward, without the need for console commands.

This patch is rated Important (Non-Critical).

Couldn't find a book.  Turns out, after reading the guide, I had simply missed it.  Shadows was a case of keep trying anything until something worked.

When leaving the Folly and getting the cut away scene - girl with lame leg - the whole display became very bright.  When entering a certain building, placing the pointer near my character gave rise to a beam of light that made navigation more difficult.  This disappeared when I entered the academy.
