Action Module
« on: February 20, 2014, 11:33:30 pm »

Hey there. I've been playing NWN for years, but have been playing on the large scale role play servers. I've taken a fascination in the toolset the last few months, and I wish to hear opinions on a planned module. I'm basically here to see if people are interested, if I'll be wasting my time.
I've tried lots of the action ones, but things that turn me off our haks and large worlds. I am thinking a small world, but large customization. Basically, an Arena server with PvE dungeons. Several of easy, average, harder, and extremely possible difficulties. Wide variety of loot and gear..

Fate Wards: A monetary system for purchasing character upgrades; wings, ability increases, etc. Awarded by Dungeon completions, player kills, and pve kills. Individual to each character, and of course balancing limits.

Basically, I want to provide a unique action module that focuses on a balanced environment and improvement beyond the 40 level cap.

Is anyone interested? Should I go on with this module? Is the game too old?

Just build for yourself is the best advice I can give you.

Expectations can be daunting to any builder, but as long as you enjoy spending your free time in the toolset, chugging away while you build, it's worth it. It's as simple as that.

I've just six followers for my builder's blog, and they send me requested files, post comments and let me know someone is out there. Does that mean only 6 people will play my mod? Possibly! But that's more than I ever expected after all these years. I don't ever expect to get 196 votes on my final module as I have with the first chapter released in 2006. 91 votes for the second module released in 2008. Four years later, I still haven't released the final chapter. It may never break 10 votes at this stage.

Yes, it's an aging game, but I still enjoy spending that free time building, writing and being creative. I'm not doing it for anyone else but me. Don't ever build for anyone but yourself.

You build because you enjoy it. Wear your heart on your sleeve while doing it. Someone will play it.

It's your time. It's your fun. If it's not worth that, don't bother.

FP!

FP is right. If you enjoy building, build for your enjoyment. Nothing else matters.

Sound advice. Maybe I'll post a developer's blog in the Persistant World section with updates. Just to build up momentum for myself, and anyone who reads it. '<img'>
