Good 1 to 40 level modules?
« on: June 18, 2012, 11:07:14 pm »

I would like to know of  good modules where I can go all the way to 40th level. It would be nice if I start off at 1st level. But not necessary.

Regards

The Aielund Saga starts at level 1 and gets close to 40, around 36 or so. Then again, I have an old version. The latest version is claimed to reach level 40.

The Sands of Fate series starts after HotU and takes you to level 40, and keeps going for a while, so you can make use of your level 40 character.

Both have lots of action, but a story, too. I have played bot repeatedly, with different builds.

The new version of Aielund (which is amazing) will only wind up about 37-38 if played solo, if I recall correctly.  Short of 40, but not by much.

Thanks. FP. I told myself months ago that I should give GvE3 a try and I never got around to downloading it. Of course, this is adding to my list of unplayed SP modules that I can only hope to play before retirement, but I still feel better having them. ;-)

BTW, though I highly recommend the Aielund Saga, I think I played the it sometime last year and my PC got to level 34. That was in an MP game with one other player. It's possible I was not playing the most recent edition since it looks like the vault page has been updated late last year, so take if for what it's worth.

No, that's probably right. MrZork.  Solo (no companions) brought me to 38.  With two people I can easily see level 33-34 (less experience than having two companions, in fact).  It'll be easier than soloing, mind you, but you won't be as high level.  So if you absolutely have to end at 40, Aielund won't cut it, but it's amazing.

Another question is whether anyone has strung together a few separate modules to allow on character to advance through them.  I had once made a list of modules that seemed interesting, along with notes on their level ranges to see if I could reasonably take a character from 1st through 20th or higher through them.  I didn't really find a sequence that looked like it would work, though.

There used to be an entire thread of recommendations of story or thme vased progressions on the old boards; have yet to see it again here.

My fave origin was Shadowguard followed by PotSC as a sea faring tale. The travels suggest why various culture changes are seen, much like what was seen in Sinbad and like literature. From there one could go several directions in mod choices based on outcome, class, desired goals, etc.

Playing MP will often reduce the overall XP all players receive. The balance for combat doesn't always match the same challenge levels you face for SP, and thus you typically acquire fewer xp.

Hi all - this is a repost of a thread named Themed Campaigns form old forums

The purpose of this thread is to outline "themed campaigns" that allows you to build your hero/villain outside of the Official Bioware Campaigns. (No OC, SOU, HOTU and Premium Modules). Two exceptions to the rule are Darkness over Daggerford and Tyrants of Moonsea as they were released as communtiy mods.

The purpose is not to rate modules or suggest a style of play; rather it is meant to provide a campaign for Hero/Villain development that has "some consistent flavor". The mods themselves will dictate the style of play.

or

The mods in question are either set in the Western Heartlands or the setting is non-specific enough to fit in reasonably well. It might require a couple of leaps of faith, since in Wendel's Woes and DOD it's assumed that you'd gone adventuring with certain NPCs. I played as a Rogue/Bard, but I'd recommend a Bard/Ranger character to get the most out Mountain of Mirrors and Elena's Tale - both use social skills and tracking quite a bit. Elena's Tale seems to be a great choice to play before DoD, since it's set very close to Daggerford. Also, I finished this one at Level 7 so you could use the extra level to fill in gaps in the characters background.

1) Into The Toadshade (1-4)
2) Wendel's Woes (4-5)
3) Mountain of Mirrors (5-6)
4) Elena's Tale: Roses for Rosa (6-7)
5) Darkness Over Daggerford (8-13)

Lawful Good Dwarven Ranger

Nether Mountains Levels 1-5
Valgard Keep Levels 5-15
In The Footsteps of Dante Levels 15-20
Clearing A Path Levels 20-24
Adventures of Glebur's Mine: Chapter 1 Enhanced Levels 25-30

Dwarven Non-Ranger Campaign

The Lost Halls Levels 1-8
Trouble at She'ren Pass Levels 9-13
Hordes of Underdark Prologue Levels 12-15
In The Footsteps of Dante Levels 15-20
Clearing A Path Levels 20-24
Adventures of Glebur's Mine: Chapter 1 Enhanced Levels 25-30

The first two mods on each series and the last one are definitely for having a dwarf along or being a dwarf only. The middle ones were needed to connect them and aren't particularly dwarfish except they take place underground. Had to connect to that last one. Let me know how they turn out.

Marine Campaign.

The original idea was to play an Earthsea type of campaign with a serie of modules taking place in islands. I decided to stick to non CEP modules. I had to put the character away for over a year and at the end I decided to expand the "playable" modules by including any module taking place in a coastal area.

1. Steadfast Isle by keith huber
NWN lvl 1 SP keyword: island
2. The Black Isle Mystery v.1.1 by Jonas Gustafsson-Frostmarrow
NWN lvl 3-6 SP/MP keyword: island
3. Shipwrecked! -- Dark Heart of Moonshae Book 1 (v1.36) by Worldweaver
NWN lvl 1-6 SP/MP keyword: island
Note: Not sure if this module can still be completed.
4. The Dying Isle (Crypt Fix) by Fujita
NWN lvl Any SP/MP keyword: isle
Note: Not sure if this module can still be completed.
5. Maze of the Riddling Minotaur by Kisama
NWN lvl 4-10 SP/MP keyword: island
6. Mirendell Tales Whispers of the Past Chapter 1 by Adam
SoU/HotU lvl 8-10 SP keyword: port
7. Caught in the Storm by Ansata Cain
NWN lvl 10 SP keyword: island
Note: This module was designed to be played with a specific paladin but can be played with another character
8. A Question of Loyalties P1 by Raven Builder
SoU lvl 6-10 SP/MP keywords: ship, port
9. I2 Tomb of the Lizard King by MSpanke
HotU lvl 5-11 SP/MP keyword: island
10. A1-4 Slave Lords v3.1 by Nol Drek
SoU/HotU lvl 6-12 SP/MP keyword: coastal
11. DI 2 Escape from Drow Island by Chris Gunning
NWN lvl 7-12 SP/MP keyword: island
12. The Shadows Below by Emperor Levistus
HotU lvl 8-12 SP/MP keyword: island
13. An Ancient Heart II - The Shattering of Peace by Andrew Ellis & Brandon Kiesling
SoU/HotU lvl 12-14 SP keyword: n/a
14. The Siege Of DarkMoore part1 by D.Eklund
NWN lvl 6-15 SP keyword: beach
15. 'Where Am I?' v1.15 by Dave Mason
SoU lvl 14-17 SP keyword: n/a
16. A Mountain of Trouble' v1.06 by Dave Mason
NWN lvl 13-16 SP keyword: coast
17. Some Distant Shore by Chris Huntoon
SoU/HotU lvl 21-23 SP keyword: sea

Compaign completed with Hawk the Arch-Magius of Roke.
Druid 1/Wizard 19
animal companion: Otak (I took a badger instead of rat)
familiar: Silk the panther (can be replaced)

HYBORIAN CAMPAIGN Levels 1-30

HMC 1 - Cimmerian Justice
HMC 2 - Cimmerian Courage
HMC 3 - Cimmerian Revenge
HMC 4 - Cimmerian Conquest

Middle Earth Campaign.

1. Middle-Earth (merp edition) FINAL by daz_uk
2. An Expedition to Emyn Uial v1-2 by Ocie1
3. The Thing on the Island by Menigal
4. Shire Adventures the Old Forest by ATOM
5. An Unwelcome Winter Guest by MikeLM9215
6. The City of the Phantom by J. Marshall
7. MERP: Trollshaws Quest BETA V. 1.1 by Nokom
8. MERP - Trolls Of The Misty Mountains by DanielCole
9. Middle Earth: The Adventure in Bree (Fixed and Expanded) by Ty Doak
10. Fog on the Barrowdowns by Trev
11. An unexpected Visitor by Trev
12. The staff of Law by Trev
13. Witchking of Angmar (by Trev
14. Path of the Dead by Trev
15. Sands of Time by Trev
16. Mines of Moria by John McA

Note: Some modules are better than others (I don't endorse any of them) but they got my ranger (Arargorn) from level 1 to 15 at the end of Sands of time. Also, I may not have played them in the best possible order.

Also, would you play Boromir, you would have to add "Lord of the Rings: Sons of the Steward v1.06 FINAL" by Archaic early on. The same author made "Lord of the Rings: The Dunedain v1.5" for Gandalf.

Some of the early module on the list are using CEP so I had some sword or shield looking like a bag and had to swap them.

We could make our own list. We just need to specify few things like theme, race, class etc.
General Fear what would you want in your campaign?

Good 1 to 40 level modules?
« Reply #11 on: October 10, 2012, 07:33:40 am »

I have a question for anybody who knows the answer.  Are these mods compatible with the PRC haks/add on? I'm playing HOTU and I just killed one of the main bosses of the game (the Gate Guardian) in about 2 rounds taking no damage (as I had time to get fully buffed). I'm playing a rogue 4/cleric 8/Hospital 16.  I scoured the net for builds and came to a whole bunch of stuff by "avado".  I took his advice, made an uber-cleric, and needless to say, the game is no longer fun.

Would I have to do a complete NWN re-install to play one of these modules here.  Basically I'm looking for some challenging high level play.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The PRC is completely broken and I'd wager $100 that 95%+ of the modules do not use it.  Probably more.  If you bring that insanely overpowered stuff into modules you should expect to breeze through it.  It's like complaining a chainsaw cuts through butter too easily.

I've yet to find a NWN module with challenging high level play that was focused on skill and execution.  However, if you like extremely high gear dependencies (as in dying constantly without the right items for specific resists/immunities), being unable to do anything in many cases to enemies, incredibly important character building, and very group composition dependent content, you could check out Higher Ground.

As far as I know, it's the best option out there currently.

               You could try "Citadel" '<img'>
Although I think I will be the last one to play it.
Because it is no longer online '<img'>

You could always try hardcore dnd rules, remember not to hit allies with AoE though.

Thanks for the replies.  So it looks like PRC has to go and its time for complete reinstall.

I have the NWN Diamond Edition off of GOG.  The one thing I loved about the PRC was the options.  I know this is a tough question,  but are there any good mods/ haks that could be installed with the Diamond Edition (which add some additional races and claases, feats, domains etc.)?

I'm no computer genius but I'm smart enough to add patches and modify game files assuming there are some basic instructions available.

So are there any balanced add ons for NWN that have that are compatible with the content linked here.   Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
