I've been playing Neverwinter Nights since 2004 and during that time I have spent many hours tinkering with the Aurora Toolset, as most people have. But I have never released anything substancial.
I've recently been hit with a spark of inspiration for a module I would love to develop, but now that the game has been available for almost ten years and the community has dwindled, is it worth pouring countless hours into development? Is anything I produce likely to find a decent audience?
I am well aware that anything I develop should be for my own benefit and enjoyment, but I am the type of person who likes to also have my creations enjoyed by others and I would hate to create something only to find the entire potential audience have dwindled to the point of obscurity and are now playing the latest shiny game instead of the timeless classic that is Neverwinter Nights.
My basic question is this: Now that Neverwinter Nights and its modding community are in their twilight years, is it still worth developing brand new ideas or would my time and energy be better invested elsewhere?
I look forward to hearing from you.
