** Updated as of December 24, 2012.Before a new year rolls in and we vanish for a few weeks, I wanted to make a post about single player modules currently in development, close to release, in testing, etc. This is a follow-up from the 2009
list.
Modules mentioned in the old 2009 thread will be updated in this list as to their progress or if they reached completion and are now available for download. Links, updated author quotes and holiday goodies for all.
Demonheart- by Lovelamb
- Status:
In progress
Demonheart is (going to be) a dark fantasy/drama/romance/roleplaying
series, result of my personal fantasy revolving around the characters
from my head.
Some of the features:
a low magic world
the protagonist resurrects after death in most non-boss fights, sometimes with penalties
there are no clerics and no divine magic
friendships and romances (new bad boys for the poking; some girls as well, but more of them in Part 2)
too much talking
player choices, as many as I can manage to implement
grey morality in some matters
alignment shifts (if you don't like it, ignore them)
riddles, only some of them avoidable
ugly things happening
sex and sexual violence[/list]
The Demon of Fenmire- by Hides His Eyes
- Status:
In progress
It will be a fairly short adventure for a level 1 character of any race
or class, is set in the Forgotten Realms (near Nashkel) and the story
concerns a demon, a terrorised village, the power of language and
propoganda, and a chicken called George. It will contain various new,
unique items and monsters and should take the player to level 3 or 4.
As
a rough early estimate, I expect to finish and upload it to the Vault
about a month from now. It will be published under the name Hides His
Eyes (my other module, Prayers From Willowbank, was published under the
name Black Wings).
Summer's End: The Stone and the Sentinel- by Mr. Versipellis
- Status:
Released
It is a warm, summer's day in Selaster: a sleepy backwater in the
province of Renaar. The people of this small but prosperous town have
always lived peacefully in the shadow of a great, ancient monument, but a
series of events are set to change all of that forever...
"The Stone and the Sentinel" is the first instalment in the
"Summer's End" series by Versipellis. For story purposes, players are
encouraged to play as a new, level 1 human character that does not use
magic and is roughly eighteen years old, although any build is feasible.
The main quest can be completed in well under ten hours, although
players are encouraged to explore the world as much as possible.
This module requires the CEP (version 2.4) in addition to both
official expansion packs. It is heavy on both roleplay and action,
although players are encouraged to pick their fights carefully.
Bastion- by Cheerful_Linus

Project Page
Bastion's Break will be getting a complete remodeling on some key
places. I will be keeping all of the systems I've created and a great
amount of the plot elements, but I am currently in the process of
writing a comprehensive back-story to my city of Bastion that spans up
to three centuries before the story begins.
Secondly, I will be rewriting the beginning of the module - starting the
story back when you are at the ripe age of 14. There will be a nice
"Great Escape" sort of thing where you actually get to flee from the
poorhouse that has tormented you for years, and actually pick up certain
items (depending on what you find) that will either help in Bastion or
the forest scene right before entering Bastion.
There will be more updates coming as Bastion is being completed.
As a side note - the name of "Bastion's Break" may be changed to just "Bastion."
Having said that, stay tuned!
Madness and Magic- by Sphynxette

"You were minding your own business, taking a little time off between
two world-saving adventures, when suddenly you found yourself snatched
away to a wizard's lab. The wizard's name is Melvin, and sure enough, he
needs your help. He lost something - a sphere - and wants you to get it
back for him.
Sounds like a regular fetch quest, right? There's just one problem:
the sphere is sentient and is tearing holes in the fabric of time and
space, jumping from one dimension to another. You'll have to follow in
its wake, world after world, and hope reality simply doesn't cease to
exist before you can reach the sphere."
- An adventure intended for 15th level characters that should offer about 10 hours worth of playing time.
- Explore different dimensions as you search for the mysterious sphere.
- One very unusual henchman provided.
- Social skills such as Persuade, Bluff and Intimidate are featured heavily during conversations.
- Some class-specific content, particularly for the Red Dragon Disciple.

The series is still being built, just due to the lack of time is delaying the full release of this series.

During your career as a gladiator in Waycross you became involved with a
mysterious organization called the Shroud. This group works in secrecy
to stop the designs of the Scourge. The Scourge has been using dark
magic to create an army of horrid monstrosities and undead in order to
take over the realms.
You have progressed to become one of the top agents for the Shroud.
Some of your missions have taken you down dark paths and have caused you
to make choices that may seem unethical, but you've had to look past
that for the greater cause.
The Shroud has relocated to the secluded Mystwood. Their base isn't
far from the city of Nova's Cape, which is known for its corruption and
debauchery making it a perfect location for Scourge activity. Your
mission is investigate this city and determine if there are any
connections to your enemy. Along the way you will be faced with
temptations that could cast a shadow over your soul. Is the promise of
power worth the risk? That will be for you to decide.
WARNING: This module is fantasy erotica and therefore sexually
explicit. It contains nudity and sexy fantasy armor. There are also
fully animated sexual encounters although the player has the option to
opt out of most of these situations depending on decisions that are made
in the game. If you find such material offensive then do not play this.
If you are under 18 do not continue. This module is for adults only.
Forrestal- by Rolo Kipp
- Status:

class: Druid/Ranger/Other magic (user of ecological bent).
Race: No Elven/Dwarven (Love them, but there is a reason)
Level: 1+
An open ended druid/ranger/briarmage sim that requires the player to
develop a climax forest while defending against settlers, aberrations,
drought & floods. Among other things.
Areas will be swapped out to show growth/decay of the forest and encroachment of
hunters, farmers or aberrations. Allies/companions will develop as the
PC does and for their own tertiary alliances (Wolfen friends may call
other pack members for assistance in combat, Fae will *definitely summon
help...).
It is not particularly story driven, but is a vehicle intended to develop non-laggy complexity for incorporation into the
(much!) more epic Birthright: Trollsbane module.
Note:
"Forrestal" refers to a creature of the "walking Woods" that gave it its
name. They are (usually) friends (but not companions) of Druids and
rangers. One of the goals of this module is to encourage a forrestal to
come live in your dell.
Birthright: Trollsbane- by: Rolo Kipp
- Status:
In progress
class: Any
Race: No Elven/Dwarven
Level: 1-15
The core of Trollsbane is a hammurabi-style economics engine and a political engine
that will drive a rather cliche (so-it-seems) story of a farm-lad (or
forest-lass or shire-shill... depending on race/class chosen) who finds
he is the (probable) rightful heir of a (definite fixer-upper) castle.
The main point of interest for players will be that how far the PC goes
is influenced both by political maneuvering and how well he manages the
Trollsfell baronetcy.

I'm plugging along on Goblin Boy but much slower than I had hoped. To
give myself the time I need to do the job right, I'm going to say that I
plan to release it in 2011 instead of Summer 2011. I have finished
another scene and working in some adventure and exploration in an
otherwise story heavy module. But as always I am a perfectionist and
this is my first module. At some point I will probably have to give up
on perfectionism and just get this out there, but in the meantime I am
holding firm to my standards.
I'd estimate my progress as 30%
complete. I hope there are still players that enjoy story heavy mod's by
the time I complete this thing.
Goblin Boy is on its way. This is the first single player module I have planned for Arnheim.
Premise is that you are locked in your parent's basement due to having been cursed by a goblin at birth.
I have finished the first two scenes of Goblin Boy, and the creation of
most of the foundation of the mod. Unfortunately when it comes to the
computer I am obsessive compulsive, so my progress is slow. At this
rate, Goblin Boy should be ready by summer. My goal had been before
May, but thats not realistic at this point.
** Updated quote from author regarding release. - November 24, 2012
In all fairness, I should say Goblin Boy is Shelved. I'm devoting so
much time to the multiplayer Arnheim module that I don't know if I'll
return to Goblin Boy in NWN. I like the story enough to try it in Unity.
But I think multiplayer Arnheim is going to be my NWN project for a
long time.

The process I've engaged in so far is script, script, script, bug run,
fix, script, bug run, fix, script, script, script...get sick of it all,
drop the project for a while, pick it up again, script, script,
script...I'm at a point where it's so very close to being done, but
some of the bugs are really weird to fix. That's the only way I can
describe it. Other than that, the henchmen are driving me nuts. I
feel like I have too much work invested in them to throw them out, but
I'm quickly reaching a point where I may cut them and a few other
things just to get the darn thing done.
The mod is pretty much complete at this point. I am heavily into
testing mode, hammering out the last of the bugs that are plaguing me.
I'd love to give a set release date, but just when I think I've got one I
get slapped in the chops with another game stopper. But at this point
it's more missed variables and code needing tweaked than anything else.
Nothing that a late night with caffeine and sugar can't fix. : )

Swordflight Chapter 2- by rogueknight333

Swordflight Chapter 1- Status:

"As for Chapter Two, the bad news is that I
have run into various delays that have prevented me from getting it
done as quickly as I might have hoped, so it will not be available any
time in the immediate future. The good news is that part of the delay
is that it is turning out to be quite a large module, so at such time
as I do get it out, it actually will be a 40+ hour long mega-adventure,
that will let your character rise to a respectable level. Hope you
stick around for it."
"Swordflight Chapter Two is behind schedule (at least if you grant that
an arbitrary schedule I imposed on myself means anything), but still
being steadily pushed forward.
Checking some benchmarks of my
progress, I note that as of today the module has 118 areas and
approximately 118,000 words of dialogue in conversation files, meaning
that I am averaging almost exactly 1000 words per area. A funny
coincidence given that those conversations are not at all evenly
distributed. I would estimate (very roughly) that this chapter is
about 2/3rds done. "

I hadn't planned to list them here, on
the idea that the thread was intended mainly for new modules in
development. But given how things have been working out -- especially
the amount of time, effort, and new content that's ended up being
involved -- I guess I probably should. I have been working for over a
year now on a
full remake of the first two chapters of the Sanctum of the Archmage series. For details and more information, see my blog posts
here,
here and
here, and
here.
The
initial focus of the work was to update the first two chapters to use
the same new custom content system that I'd been developing for the
third chapter, and to bring the lore and storytelling elements more in
line with the "World of Glorn" of the Sanctum novels (which I'm also
working on). It's turned out to go far beyond a cosmetic update, though,
in the end involving large amounts of new story content, new quests and
henchmen, re-designing and re-building most of the areas in Chapter 1
as well as adding new ones, and more. I also updated the CC system
again, to merge and use the latest versions of both Project Q (v1.5) and
CEP (v2.4).
An initial beta version (v4.0) of the re-made
Chapter 1 is almost ready, and I hope to be able to get it to the
community for an open beta by the end of November.

to work together to send you back. However, it seems a little bit of
zombie mush got on one of the scrolls and something went wrong. You
have not left this world to your great dismay. Now you are stuck on a
fantasy world with danger and intrigue all around and only one rumor of
a way back. The question becomes, what will you do with the rest of

I am slowly working on this still, between work and family commitments
which take up really most of my time. The current plan is to release a
'complete' Torslunda as a single module rather than this one and a
follow up. I started making a part 2 going back a couple of years, but
a combination of factors led to a cessation in development. One of the
main ones was trying to get custom winter tilesets that really worked
to my satisfaction - these now exist, with the Trinity Winter set,
seasonal forest and so on.
I also started (and almost completed) a CEP 2.3 update to Torslunda
last year, so what I have done is taken that project, rebuild some
areas with new content, overhaul all of the dialogues and quests,
recoded to handle multiplayer, and I'm shortly going to integrate the
work which I had done on Torslunda 2. Then... when that's all finished,
I intend to add an abridged conclusion to the story, that is, it will
play out completely, but not to the storyline I had originally planned,
rather a slightly shorter, less multifaceted and I think plain better

The Quillmaster Scrolls
The Relbonian Chronicles is set in its own unique world and mythology,
designed to have its story unfold through the participation of several
key characters.
As such, "Chapter One" is designed to be played with the Dwarven
Fighter called "Gerbilaf Bandiwide" which will be included with this
module. Please note that playing with any other character will not only
spoil your enjoyment but also render parts of the module impossible to
play.
It is recommended that you stick to Fighter on level up. Although
this is a story with many conversations and books, fighting will
intensify as you go deeper. Do not neglect the books and item
descriptions, as in some cases they offer clues.
The module is designed to gently introduce you to the mythology and
setting, which will help you understand the morals and motivations of
future characters/classes in future chapters, so if you think you'd
prefer to await a chapter featuring a class of your choosing, it's
recommended that you still play this to enhance your experience of the
overall story.
This chapter begins with Gerbilaf entering his favourite tavern in
the city of Kerral after a hard week working in the local mines. Not one
to shy away from danger, he will soon find himself acting as a
messenger for none other than the God of...well...you'll have to play to

I have made a start on the areas for chapter 2, but the speed at which I
tackle it will largely depend on further feedback. So I guess this is a
warning to you all, If you want to see a sequel, get more involved.
There is a project page for this over at the Bioware boards where you can start a discussion if you so wish.
So, with that said, what are the plans for Chapter 2? Well this time round
the main character will be a Thief, with the intention to start a little
higher in level than the main character of the prequel. It will be a
human female struggling against the prejudice of the male dominated
Thieves Guild, but she'll be a strong willed woman who regards most men
as a means to an end. They'll be a henchman again at around the halfway
stage, but this time a very unusual one... an Ancient! You'll just have
to play Chapter 1 if you don't know what one of those are '>

"Been a long time coming I know. This week I got chance to work on the
mod! Yipee! I managed to add in some changes that have been planned out
on paper for a while and well as some spur of the moment new content.
The first act now features a new module starting point that make a lot
more sense for the story and sees the player reunited with a former
friend who acts as a focal point for delivering background narrative
and insights into the player's own story.
The changes I've made
mean that the PC is now more rooted in my game world. As a former
villager living in Barrow Vale the start of the story sees you
returning home following a 15 year exile. For the story I'm trying to
tell this works much better than the mysterious stranger approach to
defining the player character. There's still full freedom over race,
class and alignment it's just now that your actions have context and
you have a secrets from your past to uncover.
Will try and post a few new screens next time. Seem to have a problem with images at the moment so may have to fix that first."

These updates will be repackaged when Fate of the Auren is released in one large trilogy collection, for anyone who has not played the modules as they were released, allowing them to download all the haks and modules together and play right through Almraiven, Shadewood and Fate of the Auren as one single play.

July Anarchy Prologue- by JM Scion
- Status:
Released
"The year is 2517. Mythical creatures known as mythans ravage the modern
world. The Mexican government has just collapsed under an overwhelming
mythan assault, and many fear the United States of America is next in
their warpath.
You are a Nomad, one who has dedicated their life to fighting the
mythic horde any way they can. Swords, guns, tooth-and-nail. You will
do whatever it takes to remind the mythans just who made them up in the
first place. Killing is easy. Surviving is the hard part."

Project Detail Page
Thanks for keeping this useful thread alive! Thought I'd give an update
on my next module, "Static". There is now a moddb.com page dedicated to
Static, which currently has some media available and will soon debut
some gameplay footage showing off new features such as the lighting
system and radio transmissions. The page can be found here.
Also
I'm happy to announce that there will be a demo of Static within the
next few months. It won't be very long, but it will demonstrate just how
well the Aurora Engine accommodates an old-school survival horror game
(as opposed to July Anarchy Prologue, where I was fighting the engine
tooth and nail to make an action game).
Cheers and good modding!
Not dead. Well, the laptop I was working on this before is dead. But I'm
signing on with a brand new desktop and things are moving again!

No Cigar- by JM Scion
- Status:
Shelved until Static is complete
This module WAS going along nicely... until a CEP update somehow
deleted the old tlk file, preventing me from accessing anything within
the module. May have to start from scratch. As a result, don't expect
any progress on the module until after Static is released.
As for the module itself, it's a large-scale urban adventure for low-level
characters. Though it takes place in the Realms, much of the story
parodies, adjusts or outright contradicts the traditional Realms lore.
Think Baldur's Gate meets Titan AE.

"Sorry, this module is currently on indefinite hold. As much as I would
love to do a gothic-themed module, so far it just isn't as intriguing
as Static or No Cigar."

* "A Hippie's Tale" by Yukiakari was released in German only. I think the author planned to do a translation, as well as updating it and maybe adding more voice-acting. It's a very nice mod but IMO, technically still in beta, too, despite not bearing the label. There's been no trace of Yukiakari since her last update.

The Cursed Kings- by Shotgunbunny

"You're a poor peasant lad/lass living in the town of Dagot in the
kingdom of Almaran, from the west a band of ogres has begun pillaging
the countryside.
In the east your kingdom's great rival is gaining ground.
You are asked to volunteer for the town's militia, as the army is desperately needed in the east.
Bythe time you're through with this module your character will have
travelled all across Almaran, serving the crown or joining forces with
those who seek to destroy it."
Hillsfar- by GoldBoxFan

"I've had all 12 quests created using the plot wizard since 12 July
2008. I did something to it again on 8 August of this year. Then
started finishing it on the 15th of this month. I have one of the 12
quests already set up and working. And hope to get 2 more done today. I
even took some screenshots. Certainly hope to have it done before New
Years."
I will likely have Hillsfar done by the end of January 2011. I am,
however, releasing Hillsfar under the name GoldBoxFan, as I will with
all Computer conversions I make. So they show up together under that
name in a vault search.

Aldebaran City and the Forgotten Empire- by fabianscorpio
- Status:
Released
"Your village is situated within the vast borderlands of two great
empires. However, its isolation makes it difficult for either empire to
defend it, and its small size makes it difficult for them to even care.
Fueled mainly by the desire to survive, as well as lingering hate from
The Great War, the village is frequently targeted by small bands of
nomadic drifters who survived the war by escaping to the vast
borderlands between the two great empires.
For you, living a modest life in this small war torn village has
kept you ignorant to the ‘civilized’ world. You know little of the
religion that flourishes outside of your village, and living this
sheltered life has grown frustrating and tiresome. So, you gather up
what little you own and decide to charter passage across The Great
Northern Ocean to the historic city of Ralerham. Rumors of its fine
sights and modern seaports balance upon truth and tale throughout the
village. As the ship sets sail, you look out over the calm waters ahead
and begin to daydream. Thoughts of walking the streets of this peaceful
city are refreshing indeed, but at moment, the famed city seems a world
away.
After a few weeks voyaging across the waters of the Great Northern
Ocean, a storm emerges and visibility soon becomes a thing of the past.
Huge waves slam the boat's hull from all directions, and the small
vessel seems no more than a leaf thrown into a raging river. As the
storm continues, so does your journey..."
