The Best Module in your opinion is?
« Reply #30 on: April 25, 2011, 11:53:01 am »

I skipped Demon due intensely disliking the premise and how it forced so much on the protagonist no matter what. You HAVE to have a romance and you HAVE to stop adventuring to settle down and play house, and you HAVE to breed ... no thanks. It might work as the premise of an independent campaign, but stripping all choice away from an existing character is just a big no-no for me.

This. I gave up on Demon about five minutes after I started playing it.

And I thought of another module that I really liked: Shadowguard. I wish they'd continued it. 'Image

Here is the list of all FR based mods(3rd post), just find the ones with highest votes:)

Also my personal recommendation -> Darkness over Daggerford (situated in the sword coast)

I just finished DoD based on your recommendation and have to agree that it is an inspired mod. I tend to play a lot of RP PW so my standards for story are quite high and DoD delivered nicely. I also think it drew some from the very first FR pen and paper(pnp)mod Under Illefarn. I was excited to see how the Devs would deal with the legendary dwarven realm of Illefarn and was impressed, the quests therein being the foam on my ale.

Nice to hear it.

We did use the original Under Illefarn mod as a reference material.

A proper kudos for an excellent and canonically accurate module. With all the modules in the Vault it amazes me that it's so hard to find well-done and canonically accurate FR mods. People can definitely learn something from DoD.

I often followed SG (my fave intro mod) with Pirates of the Sword Coast; another Bioware tale of life on the open sea. If one did not cae for the finish, player mod to follow.

There used to be quite a list of suggested storyline paths like this for one to take on the old site. perhaps look here for suggestions.

It always blows me away that The Wanderer doesn't often make these lists. I don't really like single player, nor do I like hakless NWN, but that module kept me interested despite those factors.

'sounds like a great suggestion, henesua.
I never played it but,
B G P Hughes, (= Ben WH?)
its author, being one of those who made The Wyvern Crown of Cormyr (I believe?), that's very appealling.
I also found a CEP version, as well as a sequel:
The Wanderer (v) CEP Version
The Wanderer II CEP (k)

Any module like this is, is an auto fail for me...

I hate mandatory results, restrictions, and overly RP modules...

I'm cool with storyline intense modules, which have some reading...

But I don't want to read a novel either, no thanks...

I came to play the game, not read the results of an adventure that never really took place...  ':pinched:'

Just to confirm what henesua sayed:

It's a very classical NWN story, but I'm having a blast with it. Part II especially. As a matter of fact, short for AAMOF, for once I could almost suggest... skipping Part I... I'm a bad boy, I know... ':crying:'
and start Part II (at level 9) right away. It's all there, but stronger.
A very down to the gound story, but one that takes a really good care of the ground, the soil. Surprises all around, tribes like for real, greatest use of skills ever, and I usually don't care about skills being used inside the story itself, as it ends most of the time in a nothing but feeble attempt to it...
Not here.
Here it's trusted, made with faith. Therefore excellent. Even hench(wo)men are... special...
I'd say no more...
but thanks to henesua. '<img'>

So, again:
The Wanderer (v) CEP Version
The Wanderer II CEP (k)
by B G P Hughes <3>

I remember an EoTB module on NWVault that was crazy fun even though i did get hopelessly lost.

Tales of Arterra gets another recommendation from me, although there's a part where it causes my display driver to always crash. Namely upon entering level 3 of the Mythic Circle Enclave, pretty sure it's due to my nVidia 9800 GT display drivers, as a much older save file still progressed further.

If you can find a way around that crash, then give the game a go and by all means... let me know how you worked it out... please.

A Dance with rogue;
Tales of Arterra;
The Aielund Saga.

With a special mention for the series "Aribeth's Redemption".

It's a different kind of mod, obviously, but Black Thorn is a pretty unique and interesting little mod.

I also loved Torslunda as a terrific low-level mod.  Reminds me a lot of Cave of Songs, which I'm playing now.

I was also a pretty big fan of the Saleron's Gambit series.

I have a list of my favorites here:
http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=174
Not much of the newer stuff, as I've been away for a while.  But these are all terrific mods.
