NWNX2 and Multiple PWs on same server.
« on: May 10, 2012, 01:10:06 am »

               I'd thought that there was a recent (in the past year) application to help run 2 separate instances of NWN and NWNX2 on the same server. Does anyone know of the link I'm seeking? Lacking that, is there anything in particular I need to do?

               <trying to be...>

Something like the Neverwinter Nights Multi-Instance?

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm very interested in it.

If I can package up a relatively straight-forward installation, I'd really like to separate the client from the server so I can do tricky NwNx things with my modules even in SP mode. I.e. my modules wouldn't care if you logged in by yourself or in a party. And this would allow much easier multi-mod topologies,

I'm hoping.

(if you try it out, let us know what your experience was, eh?)

               Thanks, that's likely it, but unfortunately won't fit the bill.

I'll explain my issue instead incase someone knows of a work around.

- 2 modules for 2 separate PWs are trying to be hosted on the same machine.
- Each module uses a separate install of NWN in a different directory.
- Both modules use NWNX2.
- Either module launches and runs fine using just their NWServer applications.
- Using NWNX2 however, one module will load fine while the second falters and never fully loads.
- Server is Windows XP at present.

               I'd suggest virtual machines at this point.  Dedicate various processors to tasks.. IE one runs your OS and services, one for each VM and you should be able to do what you're asking.
