NWMax "Plus"
« on: September 20, 2010, 06:47:17 am »

NWMax Plus provides some minor fixes to NWMax that I have found over the years, adds some new functionality and combines my favorite tools from VelTools and ChilliSkinner.

VelTools should still work along with NWMax Plus, but the ultimate goal is to add those functions from VelTools that users find lacking from NWMax Plus.  You'll find that ChilliSkinner is missing, but if there is something you want from that tool, let me know.  This will not work with NWMax as they are practically mirror tools and one will cancel out the other.  If you autostart NWMax you will find that the autonwmax.ms file has been overwritten to autostart NWMax Plus instead.

There should be no problems when using this with 3DSMax8 as the scripts used were based on that version.  This means it should also work with 3DSMax9.  However, extensive testing with all 3DSMax versions is still warranted.

This definitely will not work with GMax.  That version will come at a later date.

Get it here.

Hey Trent! Good to see you posting here, dude.

Michael DarkAngel has a more recent post regarding this:

social.bioware.com/forum/Neverwinter-Nights-1/NwN-1-Custom-Content-and-Community-Expansion-Pack/NWMax-quotPlusquot----NWgMax-quotPlusquot-4842319-1.html

Awful glad you're still interested in NWN.

im having troubles with uninstalling this. After I installed I found several annoyances and some of them aren't gone even after I manually removed all files I copied into gmax folder. The most annoying is tool menu flickering and the menu is still red, is there a way how to remove it completely without need to reinstall whole gmax and nwmax?

There is nothing in NWgMax "Plus" that should cause any kind of tool menu flickering, or turn any menu red, at least nothing I can think of that I would have done that NWMax didn't already do.

With that aside:  To remove you need only delete the nwmax_plus directory and the autonwmax.ms file from the Startup directory.  It is highly recommended that you then re-install NWMax for gMax.

I would really like to know more details of what annoyances you found, so that I can endeavour to make this better in the future.

well i did that and i still have the menu red and often flickering (disappearing while still active unless i move mouse to lower/higher choice when it shows up for a second and then disappear again) it wasnt red before I installed your plus version

Well its few months since I tried to removed your plus version and since then I was away from NWN so I dont exactly recall all the issues now but I remember one:
in mdl import "vanilla" nwmax kept last imported file in selection so when I needed to restart scene, I could just restart and re-import easily, your version cleaned the selection so I always had to searching in my files the correct model again and again... very annoying

also see no reason why to recolor the menu to red, was and still is quite uncomfortable to my eyes

not sure whether this tool menu flickering happened before or if it have started after i removed mentioned files

If you have removed the directory and the file from the Startup directory that I've mentioned previously you have removed anything I have done.

Once installing NWMax for gMax from here, the last file listed is for gMax only. This should, for all intents and purposes, return you to 'vanilla' NWMax.

I would suggest deleting any nwmax directory/file that is currently in your scripts directory and start with a fresh install.

Not sure there is much more help I can provide, but I will look into what you have pointed out.

Thanks,

Just installed gMax and NWgMax v4.08.25 on a backup PC.  I'll assume the color you are referring to is the Rollout Title background color.  NWgMax does not change that color from whatever is set prior to installing it.  If that is what you are referring and they are a color other than the default olive (my best guess), then something else you may have installed has changed it.

You can change the color yourself to whatever you prefer by clicking on 'Customize' in the menu bar, select 'Customize User Interface' from the dropdown menu.  In the 'Elements' dropdown select 'Rollouts'.  Play around with the 4 options selecting the colors you want and when you are finished press the 'Apply Colors Now' button to see what your changes will look like.  Finally I would say you should 'Save' your UI Scheme so if something changes in the future you have that to fall back on.

Or if you prefer to, you can try pressing the 'Load...' button.  It should open to the 'ui' directory and in that directory you should find a 'DefaultUI.clr'.  This should set all UI elements to their original colors.

Still have no explanation for any flickering you are experiencing. '<img'>

Can you post a screenshot of the menu you are talking about?  Then I'll check my installation and see if it is the same.

Perhaps we can get some other opinions on this.

This is how ShaDoOoW's right-click menu appears.
'Posted

It does not appear this way for me.  My first thought was it had something to do with the gMax Display Driver.

But upon further investigation, I come back to a customized user interface being the culprit.

Select 'Customize' from the menubar, select 'Customize User Interface' from the dropdown, select the 'Quads' tab in the 'Customize User Interface' dialog.  Near the lower-right corner click the 'Advanced Options' button.  In the upper-left corner of the 'Advanced Quad Menu Options' dialog, click the 'Load' button.  That should open the 'Load Quad Options' dialog to the 'ui' directory.  You should see a file named 'DefaultUI.qmo'.  Select that file, and it should reset the colors of those menus.

If that does not work, you either have a corrupted file, a bad install or something totally off the wall that I'm just not seeing.

[EDIT] Of course, once you get to the 'Advanced Quad Menu Options' dialog you'll be able to see what colors are set for those menus.  If they appear normal there, then you do have another issue elsewhere that is causing the problem.

Thanks, but red is a default UI for me it seems, even new install of gmax 1.2 on another machine makes the menu red. And the flickering will be probably caused by drivers because it still happens even after gmax/nwmax reinstall. Seems its not related to your nwmax plugin.

I would like to give you plus version new chance, but that mdl import file browser erasing is a big con to me since I am noob and often need to restart scene and reimport the same file. Could you perhaps restore that functionality, or do you have some reason why you removed it?

after some googling I find the cause, I had to open the default gui file in notepad and replace all dots with commas, then it loaded color correctly, seems to be some OS-dependant gmax bug or what, was quite sure it started after installing the plus version but maybe I am mistaken, nevermind finally solved it it still does flickering, but that might be related to the drivers which I changed - those new nvidia drivers are really something, 3 individual driver applications running in background and result is worse than previous driver (toolset crashing, nwn lagging... have to get rid of this crap)

EDIT: ok so it resets to red after restart no matter what ''':crying:'
EDIT2: finally fixed by setting the dot separator instead of comma globally in windows language settings

Glad to hear you found your issue.

That is starting to crop up a lot more as being an issue.  I'm going to have to start making my first question:  Where do you live?

I'll start looking into the Browse file issue, I know I had a good reason why I changed it at the time I changed it.  But what that reason was I no longer remember. ''

I'd be curious to hear more about your issues with nVidia's new drivers - but in a separate thread. I've personally had no trouble with them and in fact find my games running much better with the new setup. I'm not fond of having the background apps but I guess my GPU, processor, and RAM are big enough to avoid any issues.
