Typical XP for Rogues in Luskan
« on: October 14, 2014, 02:46:39 pm »

I'm on the docks in Luskan.  In the initial skirmish with Baram's men I get about 32 XP per kill (without assistance).  Wandering further it suddenly drops to 4 for what seem to be much the same difficulty encounters.  Looking at the log on screen the low values are listed for a "Were Rat", that transformed from a rogue.  The XP for killing an archer is also very low.

Anyone have an idea what is happening?  I'm never going to get to the next level at this rate! Linu is still back at the entrance were I told her to hold her ground.

You can still fight Kurt, but I doubt you will reach next level. If you hire a henchmen you get less experience, so try going without henchmen. Linu counts if she's in your party right now.

As Naeryna noted, if Linu is in your party when you make a kill, it may not matter that she's not near you. If you want the extra XP from solo kills, use the dialog to get her out of the party and go and do your solo fighting. Talk to her again to rejoin when you actually want her.

But, the XP drop you are seeing from 32 to 4 isn't going to be explained just by one extra party member. That sort of low XP comes from being at a significantly higher level than your opponents. The real question is: What level is your toon? The respawning partisans near the temple are chumps and you can't expect much XP from them. But, if you are high enough level that you aren't getting more XP from the tougher opponents, then your level is probably already pretty high and you need to get into the tower and finish up Luskan to start Chapter 3.

I'm a Rogue (10) / Champion of Torm (2), a good 10 000 XP short of my next level (don't know the count offhand).  I'll be kind but firm with Linu, and then go sewer-diving '<img'>

Luskan is my favourite part of the OC.  I've never noticed the experience for each kill, but always gain a level for finishing the town (making sure I take out both captains), and another level for the tower (making sure I take out all levels).

From memory, xp's from kills are less important than completing quests.

Wererats are far way weaker than Black Knife Rogues, that's the main difference. Were rats while in human form wear half plates (the yellow ones) while the BKRs wear rogue's tunics. Maybe the ones giving you only 4 XPs are the wererats.
