The Valen Shadowbreath thread :)
« Reply #960 on: May 17, 2011, 06:20:12 pm »

D-D has a want for Valen to fight Vico from ADwR and Anomen from BG2. Mostly cuz she thinks it'd be hilarious to see Valen PWN them.

Liz's reactions to a:
PC romancing Valen: Jealous, but tries to hide it. Ultimately confronts the PC about her intentions. Which could turn into a cat-fight. '<img'>
Nice PC: She's nice to the PC, if wary, but eventually warms up to him/her and, if not romanced, will admit she feels as if the PC is an 'older brother/sister' to her.
Mean PC: Will be a snarky little b*tch and might threaten the PC if s/he goes to far. If not romanced, she'll tell the PC (fondly) that they 'remind her of a certain tiefling brother of her's back home.' xD
If Romanced: If romanced by an Evil PC, can be swayed to turned Chaotic Evil. If romanced by a Good PC, can be swayed to turn Chaotic Good. Neutral PCs romancing her won't have this option since she's already Chaotic Neutral. She'll be very devoted and perhaps a bit naive, but also has worries because her old mistress is still hunting her and, ala-Valen, will try to convince you to leave her. Yeah, and she has no restrictions for romance; race, gender, stats, it doesn't matter. '<img'>

My original idea was that she travels with the PC for a while but leaves with Valen to go back to the Seer (if Valen's not romanced) or by herself (if Valen is). If Nathyrra or Aribeth are PC's LI, she'll just go back to the Seer since she doesn't really like Aribeth (either because she's annoyingly evil or a Paladin.) and Nathyrra scares her. xD Either way, you'll eventually 'hear rumors that a scrawny little girl with odd tattoos somehow set free a large society of Blood Wars slaves. The stories change wherever you go, but the description sounds fairly familiar...' if you encouraged her to help her people.

As for forcing her to become your lover, I'm constantly swaying between the ideas of her eventually killing herself to escape the PC, or gaining some twisted sort of 'love' for the PC from all the time she's forced to spend with him/her.
Suggestions? Comments? '<img'>

^ Ooh, Valen vs Vico and Anomen DOES sound good...

I'm desperate to have Liz as a henchie now. She really does seem an interesting companion to have. I've already got a couple of PCs lined up to interact with her...

As for the "Forced Love" ending, I like to think that Liz would kill herself rather than get some twisted love from the PC. It would be better for her - after all, remember Valen's "Forced Love" ending? I nearly burst into tears! D:

               True, True.

How about something like this:
"Unable to stand being bound to you for eternity, Elizabeth rebeled against you, attacking you until forced by her true name to stop. Without the ability to attack you, the girl cursed your name, and turned the blade on herself, quickly ending her own existence. The young Uin Baubmacian, so full of life and vigor, had rather died then be forced to love you.
Such a waste..."

Wait, I can do better:
"Forced to your side forever by use of her true name, the young Uin Baubmacian girl lost all hope and life. Slowly growing more and more depressed, Elizabeth became little more then a construct bound in your service. Eventually, you found her, pale as a corpse, laughing manically before taking a dagger and slitting your throat. The last thing you saw before death embraced you was Elizabeth, still laughing, taking the blade to herself, ending her own life as well.
Even in the afterlife, her laugh continues to haunt you..."

Oooh, that was much darker, no? '<img'>

Ooh, the second one sounds so brilliantly dark. I love it. Nightmare fuel for the win!

The second one is delicious, but True Name wouldn't allow her to kill you. Well, PC. xD

The second one is just awesome ... I love dark stuff somehow.

(Sorry for removing the screenie, but I got an anonymous mail with a warning: if I even mention certain characters ever again, someone will make sure that I will be banned from here, dA and other pages.)

               Really? Darn. :/

-thinks of a brilliant loophole-
The PC only binds her as his/her lover, never says not to kill him/her! Because of how meek Liz was due to her growing insanity, it probably wouldn't have crossed the PC's mind until it was too late.
Failing that, maybe the PC specifically said something like 'if you attempt to kill me, you must kill yourself.' Since Elizabeth frequently admits to being afraid of death, however in her insanity, she's lost that fear and just wants CharName dead, at any cost.

No? -headdesk- Back to the drawing board, then.

Also, anyone know a good voice recording software? I've got some oneliners to do. '<img'>

A-C: I tried doing a Valen vs NPC/OC thing once before as well, and Valen won because he happened to have Devastating Critical. Without it, it's harder for him to win.

@DD: Write on, just write on ... your attempts at writing darkness are gorgeous! I just can't wait to see Liz in HotU ... hold! Tari probably will hate her. She might be good, but still ... she's prejudiced, vain, jealous and hot-tempered sometimes. ("Var'usq! Another ranger. Stupid human girl. Almost as annoying as that tiefling. Maybe I should teach her about nature. As you naturally die when getting a sword or two into your guts ..")

@Alex: Devastating Critical ... not sure if I added this. I think so. Once or twice Valen killed one of the other guys with just one blow. Valen's ability to deal massive damage will only be of any use if he hits his target, though. High Dex, Uncanny Dodge and Evasion sometimes come in handy ... I should overwork the whole scene and adjust the character levels. Would be a good check: aggressive (Valen) vs. passive/parrying fighting style (Tarno) vs. something in-between (Vico, Tony or any other dual-class character) ... It would be interesting to add a sorcerer or wizard, too. I still don't know enough about spells. So my fangirl fun might turn into something more serious ...

               Liz would be very offended.
"Oi! I am not a stinking human! I'm an Uin Baubmacian. Pfft. You've probably never heard of us."
Damn hipster. xD

GAWD.
I just loaded up HotU for another test run and Liz isn't showing up in the Public House.
AGAIN.
-slams head against desk repeatedly-

Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening?! She shows up in the toolset, but not in-game. I've moved the NWN version of HotU from the NWN folder and I'm loading it from the Other Modules list, but nada! Dx

If you do a wizard, I wanna see Edwin from BG! :B

^ Check for any overriding scripts. Chances are they'll be the ones doing it.

               Help?

I finally got my gaming computer (YAYZ!) downside is it's only Windows XP (NOEZ!) and I need to reinstall my NWN mods. Problem is, I can't find the Valen Mimic mod again (DOUBLE NOEZ!!)

Anyone know where it is? :[
