I can sympathize. I have never been able to use her effectively either.  Casters (even Deekin falls into this category) must be "stripped" of all their buffs before they will engage in melee.  And the drow compounds this problem by doing assassin tactics when they aren't always appropriate.

There are only two things that I've used that can help a bit so are worth a try.  First, make sure when you enlist her help the first time that you adjust her training to non-caster levels.  She'll still be a wizard,  but not with many spells. Second, before any combat, have her buff the party until there are no more buffs available.  She will still likely have a few offensive spells left to use, but should go through them quickly and resort to normal attacks.

See, the way I understand it, and knowing absolutely nothing about the AI code, is that apparently "buffs" do not fall under the category of AI "spells" as far as combat goes.  So what you are experiencing is her making herself invisible or in stealth and then buffing herself nine times 'til Sunday, while your PC and Valen slug it out.  Then , with almost perfect timing, when all the baddies are laying dead and bleeding, she is ready to attack.

My recommendation to prevent the associated migraines: trade her in for Deekin as soon as possible (or for the frozen paladin later on).  Hopefully you took Curse Song and can do lots of damage that way so let Deekin pre-buff with his standard song and then curse like crazy.  There are always those expensive scrolls of high-level summons I suppose if you need another tank.

Sry for the bad news.  Perhaps Tony's AI can get her to cooperate better,  Dunno.  Never tried it myself as it sits there in its folder for about 2 years now.

Ah, Nathyrra, never low maintainance. Still love her.

Just a wild guess...but maybe shes trying to cast a buff on someone she cant see ?

Or is she using some magic item you gave her ? Make sure she doesnt have any activating things in her inventory.

I dont know what youre fighting, but try buff her with see invisible/true seeing (she should have that on one of her weapons from Rizsolvir or however that smith is spelled).

I'm using her in Chapter 2 with Tony K's AI. When I tell her not to cast any spells unless I ask, she complies. The first thing I did when I got her, as Hip has suggested, was to tell her to only advance as an assassin.

(I immediately realized, Wizard and Assassin? That's lame. If she's good at attacking she needs to attack!)

Have you tried putting the Attack command on your quickbar and using that to force attack? I wouldn't play any NWN game, 1 or 2, without the party commands on my quickbar!

She's actually been a very good party member for me so far, an effective damage-dealer.

I do make her get rid of all her buff spells right after resting, although the couple of times I've forgotten, she hasn't tried to cast in battle or frozen up or anything.

I did notice tonight that she had been hit by the dexterity bonus bug (dexterity bonus to AC mysteriously stops working). I think I may have fixed it by casting a Cat's Grace on her. She does consume a lot of hHeal potions and still manage to die a lot without that dexerity bonus! It took me a long time to notice the problem, which probably started after the first time I had to Resurrect her.

I wish they would have just provided different relic that teleports you back to the Drow temple and that way you could still return to Waterdeep and select those henchmen when you wished to...why they made the reaper relic change locations is completely beyond me and I don' think it adds anything to the storyline at all when the mad wizard sends you on your way with Deekin and the Drow lady and sends your Orc tank back to Waterdeep.

Expediency.

Essentially, what you are suggesting is to include all the areas of Ch 1 and Ch 2 in a single module which would basicly double the resources needed to load .''

Story-wise, the Valsharess-controlled Underdark is a distinct area from Undermountain and both those are additionally distinct from the planar City of Lost Souls/Cania so that all works well thematically.  Even if the resources could be magically compressed to fit into a single module, interconnection between the three areas wouldn't make sense.

I, for one, am glad for the opportunity to experience some new hench alternatives to the OC and SoU.

I can see what you are saying but the mistake I made was that because Tiger had, I think it was "hill giants belt of strength" I used him to carry mostly all of my loot and some of it was not even ID'ed yet. So it took me by surprise when he was suddenly warped back to waterdeep with all my goodies! 'Posted

I then had to reload a save I had at the reapers realm and drop all those goodies there....not too much of a pain but at the time it did cause some concern...

What I did with Nathyrria was I told her never to cast a spell unless I asked her to, plus I also told her that from now on she was to train her assassin abilites and forget all about training her wizard skills. She happily runs into battle now and seems to do pretty good. If you check her feats she is well trained in dual wield so give her a good sword and dagger, which she comes with, and set her loose on your enemies! 'Posted

@Vansen, next time ur at the reaper's area just north on him (just before the doorway that did take you to waterdeep) there is a pool like the divining pools from the oc and sou, open that up and the stuff from tiger should be there it will cost gp to get it back but it should only be small change u can also use it to store items if u want to wait for the third chapter to get a better price (it will be selling them but u can buy them back as well) but i cant be 100% sure what will happen.
