Thanks, sorry for not replying for a while. This is all great stuff, and I will think each thing over. I have tried DMing for friends, but currently only know 1 other person interested in NWN so harder than you'd think. Neverwinter Connections sounds promissing, but as mentioned below I can offer non or limited comitment (though I have heard mention of 24hr servers - I assume one guy doesn't just leave his PC running over night, so as long as these servers aren't using illegal means like hacking into the game files or something, instruction on how to set one up would deal with the comitment problem as if I were hosting I wouldn't even need to be there).
As for joining a DM team, I would like that but
must mention two big drawbacks of having me on team:
- I cannot comit to something. I can try to plan times I'm on, but if I have some chore I have to do or somewhere I have to go, that may get in the way. I generally try to avoid anything more than "maybe some time sunday evening maybe?"
- I have never DMed properly, only light tinkering, so I might either be slower than the players and there by behind the game, or I might spontaniously decide to add a random orc were there isn't one. As I tinker in game-making and book writing I realise you cannot just have something there 'cause it looks epic - I wouldn't make an extra troll come and fight the player at an important plot point - but I haven't got used to the base creature's strength and may make something to-powerful appear and destroy the player (if so, I would probably just heal the player and kill then replace the creature, but it would be a bit wierd - a player dieng, coming back to life, and the Umber Troll suddenly is a Goblin, if you get me).
- I have never been trained.
If you are willing to handle these problems I would love you join a DM team, or at least get a password for some non-to-fragile PW world!
(PS: Thanks for explaining PW worlds - I never understood what it meant before!
