I have built & hosted 2 server modules, including Admin & DM them too, indeed, though not "RP" mind you...

Have I no clue?  Undoubtedly I am by no means "ignorant", nevertheless, a DM alone will not breath life into your server mate, though they can help some...

I have not yet had the pleasure of "Playing" on your server, mainly because I'm not really an "RP" player, that's not to say I don't RP, I'm just not an "RP" style of player...

Other factors effect your server mate, not just a lack of DM, I think NWN is much slower than it was a year or two ago, even a year ago you may have attracted a lot more players, today though, there just isn't that many new players strolling around in this game, like before...

That's why many once popular servers are now dead, not that they are bad servers, hardly...

We need community collaboration & commaradery...

I'm not trying to dog on your server or you, honestly...

I'm saying quality may help improve your player count, definitely...

I hope you didn't take that in a bad way, seriously...

So, the modules you built, they are of poor quality as witnessed by the fact that no-one is on them at this second. Right?

I'm not your 'mate'.

Facts are, there are those who LOVE the module I've built, they are just not online at the moment you look. I am VERY busy doing productive things for the NWN community atm (you know, the neverwinterconnections.com web site rebuild?). YOU - repeatedly cast aspersions at the quality of my module which you admit you have not visited, THAT is the definition of IGNORANT. So please, quit being such an ignorant poster, aka TROLL. Post valid material that is on topic or get out of the thread. I have more important things to do than to school you on the rules of the forum.

Be well. Game on.

_Guile don't use my post to prop up your mean-spirited harassment of this thread. I play on Oda's server more than any other. You have crossed the line from simply expressing an opinion and are clearly just flaming at this point. We all know how you feel. We just don't care. Kindly stop flaming this thread or I will report you.

Thanks for the nod and kind words URK! *waves*

Hugs to your family. Hope to see you on the server again when you can find time (there is lots more cool features since last you visited - and asked for an item that could turn you into a tree... which we created for you LIVE while you waited [yeah, features like that still amaze me too]).

Lycos and vamps? Yeah, we're testing those systems pretty regularly (we've got a few players of each that help us by logging some hours and testing features for us)... *shrugs* but don't get the wrong impression, it is not all about weres and vampires; it just happens you were online while we were heavy into testing those systems with a few of our friends.

Be well friend URK. [double hugs to the baby!] Game on!

NP. I meant what I said about wanting to do some building for you. Keep an eye on your PM. I have a concept to pitch to you, but I'm still working on it. This thread has jostled me out of my apathy. A crying baby can kill a DM, but he can only slow down a builder.

Now, THAT is a very good point you make there DM_Dad! I look forward to hearing from you anytime you are able, no pressure either. '<img'>

LOL, can I say again, that that magic item you requested us to make was a real tough one, I loved the request and was almost as shocked as you to see Erin make one while we watched - she's amazing that lady.

I have 2 general PW type questions.

1) Does the presence of DMs show up on the standard server count?

In other words, if I am searching for servers with activity, on a server with 64 slots available and only 2 DMs present, would it appear as 0/64 or 2/64 to the general public?

2) If there is more than 1 DM present, can one of them opt to play (essentially remove their DM hat for a time)?  IIRC there are some servers where they do this but I am not aware if this is standard procedure, universally speaking.

The only reason I mention this is that the player dynamic should be pretty obvious by now for all admins.  Any visitor who has limited hours of potential playing time and enjoys coop most of all, will "naturally" steer away from servers reporting 0/anything.  Once that even 1 player shows up, it works like a magnet and will increase much more rapidly.  So what this means,is that any random sampling of displayed activity has no merit whatsoever.  Only one based on a tracked and compiled interval will.

So, my point is... it would be handy for potential players to know that a DM was present (perhaps even available to play/chauffer) even though no players were there yet.

Apologies for the potential hijack of thread.  It was not intended.

Truth!

And hence I only build these days.

Build on!

Good luck to your server, GM_ODA.
