But the *current* situation is #2 '>
To be clear, I wasn't insulted by anything in this thread. We're talking about a game with literal heavens (plural), hells (again plural), and much much more. I was/am more concerned due to the lack of mentioning it prior to in-game. I've had some experiences in the past where you were hit with "surprises" upon logging in that would have kind of been important to mention earlier, often with major impacts.
Semi off-topic, but curious if you don't mind answering it: how would a character like Durnan fit into the world (in terms of deities)?
Durnan, hrmmm ... sadly I can find little "source" information on him outside of his presence in HotU.
Based on his abilities, classes and alignment, I'd see his patron as being one of the following three deities; Millil, Deneir or Oghma. These three I think best suit his role as a protector and information gatherer and all are part of the large patronage group that sponsors the Harpers, which he is a member of. As a resident of Waterdeep, I think he'd occasionally pay homage to deities like Tymora (for luck) or even Selune (for long journeys) and others. As a Harper, he'd most likely never divulge who his actual patron is, except to the closest of allies perhaps. He might even profess or at least hint at being a follower of other deities falsely if circumstances warranted in his role a a Harper.
Of course, this would just be my own take on him as gleaned from the scant details I could dig up on him.
