I have been hosting a multi-player server online for several years.  All of a sudden it stopped showing up online.  I can't seem to join with direct connect over the internet although I can join through LAN.  There have been no recent changes to either the module or my router configuations(port forwarding is setup properly and worked for years).  I have tried disabling and even stopping the software firewall to no effect.  Verified the external IP of the server and no it has not chagned.

I can't join through direct connect and it shows as not working through yourserverlist.com

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Savage

I'm afraid I can't offer any solution due to a lack of technical knowledge. I had the exact problem you describe when, halfway through successfully hosting a regular multiplayer session of a playthrough of the OC on my own computer, and with no changes to my internet, IP, computer, firewall or NWN settings, it just steadfastly refused to let me continue hosting and I've never been able to do it again. If anyone has a solution please speak up as it annoyed the heck out of me! Good luck SRDM!

I figured out a solution to my problem.  In order to maintain a static IP(internal and external) which assures everything works properly with port forwarding on my router, I am using the following manually set properties:

Under => Internet Procol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) Properties

=> Use the following IP address:

  •          IP address

  •          Subnet mask

  •          Default gateway

=> Use the following DNS server addresses:

  •          Preferred DNS server

  •          Alternate DNS server

At some point my ISP must have changed their preferred and alternate DNS servers.  I temporarily set the above functions to, "Obtain an IP address automatically", and "Obtain DNS server address automatically", then went into the command prompt and used "ipconfig /all" which gave me the current DNS servers which my ISP wants to use.  Once I manually set those new parameters in TCP/IPv4, everything worked fine and my server is visible and joinable from the internet.

Feel free to check it out if you like.

current IP for direct connect: 50.147.73.100:5121

You'll need all bioware expansions and updates plus CEP 2.2 or newer.

Spent about 10-15 minutes looking at this.  Few points of note:

1, there's some crazy lag.  Sometimes taking 3-6 seconds to catch up and I was rubber-banding all over the place.

2, it's described as "uber" and while that's probably not meant as in the "exploiting imported characters" or whatever sense, you're instantly leveled to 4 (not terrible), given 500k gold (rather unusual), and can be expected to be equipped with +4-5 gear and permahaste across the board from basically logging in (quite high magic).  Also unlimited potions of Heal and wolves with 4 AB (to my characters 35+ AC) were giving 300 XP each.  Something to keep in mind if you're curious.
