Evil Roleplay?
« on: June 03, 2013, 08:25:52 pm »

I'm looking for a persistent world to try, and hopefully make home eventually. That said, as my title suggests I tend to like evil themed roleplay. Before jumping to any conclusions; no I don't intend to wantonly murder, pickpocket the entire mod, or simply sit in some corner emoting -broods evilly-. I just find a villain played well can be rewarding as well as drive roleplay. After all, the goodly paladin best comes to life when they not only have something to protect, but also a worthy nemesis to combat.

Now as much as I'd like to just jump into a mod and stir up some trouble, being a new player, I think it'd be best to start small. In fact, I'd much rather join some existing group or guild to get my feet wet. Whether they being some army of knights dedicated to an evil god, a group of bandits out for coin, or some coven of witches and warlocks, I'm not all that picky. As long as I'm not idly sitting by some campfire just chatting about the locals and weather, I'll be happy.

As a side note, it'd be nice if the mod had some custom content too, in the form of haks or changes to the base mechanics. While I won't outright say no to a completely vanilla world, it won't be my first choice.

Thanks for reading and any responses.

I think Thay may be worth checking with a more sizeable proportion of it's population leaning towards the evil side of the equation. It's got custom content too.

I'm afraid my knowledge is lacking about active guilds on PWs that permit evil focussed RP within a more lawful/good/neutral environment. Good luck in your search.

I see that Fergoose just beat me too it as I was typing up my reply. Thank you! '<img'>

But I’d also like to mention checking out the Thay PW. Besides being an evil setting there are a large number of (evil) in-game temple, guild, and legion factions you can join – not to mention the Red Wizards or their Thayan Knights. And if you’re looking to start your own organization, there are plenty of tools available in-game to start and decorate your own guildhouse, design guild clothing, and hire your own guild merchant.

We do have a small Thay-specific hakpak, and are current in process of finalizing our ‘big release’ of the next version (which will hopefully be the last one for awhile), which will add new clothing options, creatures, spells and feats, and other goodies. Regardless though – a lot of things have already been modified from vanilla gameplay either via the hak or, more often, via script.

Good luck in your search.

Thay's a good choice, especially if you can consistently get involved in events.  Evil factions scheme against each other.  Thay's a highly political area.  Of course, there are non-evil and even good factions, as well.  The "good guys" just tend to get pushed into the hush-hush underdog role.

There are a LOT of joinable factions, far more than anyone could ever need (or even necessarily find).  I've been playing on it regularly for years and there are still places that I haven't explored (part of that is due to the number of areas that have been added over the years).

Activity gets a little slow for parts of the day, but even then there's plenty to do.
