I don't know if anyone else was dissappointed to hear that the developers of Neverwinter (Neverwinter Night 3 I.O.W.) which was Cyptic was bought out by Perfect World Entertainment. The future of the next Neverwinter was already uncertain but now with it being bought out, the due date being pushed further back and that they're changing formats I've lost a lot of my faith in the series. Considering Skyrim is coming out soon my computer will be left open to run my server again. So I just wanted to announce that I'd be placing my Neverwinter Night 1 Server back up if anyone wants to join up. We're located in the PWStory Category named Kingdom of James. If you have any questions about playing the server or want to comment about whats going on with the new Neverwinter then feel free to do so here.

FelSeero, how did you find out about Neverwinter Winter 3?  I only found out when Amazon sent an e-mail stated the following in an e-mail, "We are sorry to report that the following item is no longer available from our supplier:".  I don't find much information on this story.  I am interested in the server which you talk about.  is there a site that has more information?  I haven't played Neverwinter for many moons.  To play on the server does it require the additional content (which I do have).

Thanks,
Mark

i found my information about neverwinter 3 at the http://www.playnever...redir=frontpage site that cryptic originally setup. they have an article there about them being taken over my freeworlds and that the template of the game will be changing drastically. as for my server there is no additional content required. i had to take it down for a few days but it will be back up now.

I think you're overreacting a little. Atari had set a ridiculously short development period for Neverwinter Online in the hopes of getting the game out before Hasbro managed to wrest the D&D license away from them. They literally wanted to go from drawing board to release in one year. This is unheard of in AAA project development. Two years is considered a rushed development schedule.

When they realized they couldn't get the game published before Hasbro won their lawsuit they unloaded Cryptic like a hot potato.

All Perfect World has done by pushing back the release date is give Cryptic a more reasonable development cycle to work with. The fact that they are still developing it at all strongly suggests that Hasbro has indicated they are going to respect PWs license to finish the project. This would represent PW's first mainstream project, and a D&D license is a powerful money magnet. PW is going to bust their butts to get this game released.

That said...

I really don't care. Everything I've heard about NWO indicates it's going to suck. An MMO with an adventure forge is a pretty lousy substitute for a proper sequel to NWN2. I have absolutely no interest in this project beyond the ramifications it has on the future of D&D gaming.

To tell the truth, unless PW is making some significant and fundamental changes to the games basic design concepts, I'd be kind of glad to learn NWO was dead.
