A question about dialogue functionality in multiplayer.
« on: June 22, 2011, 12:17:12 pm »

               Greetings!

Me and a friend have taken it upon ourselves to duo through some of the older RPGs, so far we've finished the Baldur's Gate games and Icewind Dale, and now we're moving onto Neverwinter Nights.

What we miss about Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale is how the dialogue worked in multiplayer. A lot of people seem to dislike it, but we really preferred having both players engaged in the dialogue. I.e. the game pauses, and both players can see the dialogue and the dialogue options.

What also bothers us is if finishing the dialogue has some sort of rewards, e.g. gold or items, only the player initiating the dialogue gets them, and the other player has to spam through the dialogue all over again.

So my question is, is there a way to make NWN pause when dialogue is initiated, make both players see the dialogue options, and make both players get the rewards (even if the gold amount was, say 1/2 of normal, as it's split in two.)

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right forum section for this question, if not, my apologies.

You can control the MP pace of the dialog by simply having the person making the selection slow down and give the others a chance to read, and provide feedback before making the next selection.

As for XP and Gold rewards, that's a question of scripting.  If the mod was really designed as a MP mod, then the rewards should be scripted as such, if not, you may just out of luck as far as XP goes.  You can still manually divide gold rewarded though.
