Modifying Mil's..
« on: February 25, 2015, 06:27:47 pm »

Has anyone else modified Mil's in order to make it so shields can be modified and also so when you have magical armor or clothing and you want to modify it you don't lose the armor or clothings properties when you buy the outfit after customization? I can modify scripts some if you point me in the right direction but I am by no means a coder. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

***The armor keeping its properties was some very nice insight. Thank you. I do however still need assistance pointing me in the direction of documentation on how to implement mods to shields and as was brought to my attention cloaks. Thank you.

With Mils you can copy the appearance of the armor on the model to the armor on the PC, which will keep the properties on the PC's armor. In my opinion, that copy option should be what players use, rather than the buy option, if they want to keep the current item properties on their clothing/armor.

Hmmmm...that's interesting. I did not know that. I thought once you copied your armor to the model and modified it that you had to buy the modified version?

Awesome thank you so much for that insight. I think Mil's needs a bit better documentation for dummies like me lol...Do you also know of any fixes to include shields by any chance?

I'm pretty sure shields were included with the default package. You need a variety of scripts that, in looking at the names of them, should be included. Check for scripts like tlr_ifleftvalnpc, tlr_ifleftshield, tlr_shldbuy, etc. If you don't have those, probably take a look at the Vault again to see if there is an updated version you need to get.

The problem is that non-scripters really cannot fix systems that others make, some of those system may have an issue in it, and I'll even admit that I've released a lot of bad work myself (content with errors in it), therefore, non-scripters will have a problem using a lot of custom content because it's not complete, has errors, and most non-scripters have no means to fix it on their own.  Though, that's really what the forums are for, you still need to understand scripting in order to really know how to fix issues with scripted  systems, like mil tailors for example, which multiple renditions were incomplete, had issues, or needed to be fixed...  (I know I've had to fix two renditions already.)
