Character Creation: Packages
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:02:07 pm »

When a new character is created, is needed to choose a premade package or to configure an own package.

What's a "recommended" suggestion when you click to configure package?

There is a lot of premade packages to each class and if you choose to configure package you get the first one (when you level up and click in recommended button).

Is possible to change the destination of Packages button to Configure Packages at the character creation (to skip the packages choosing)?

"Configure packages" allows you to modify the default package for the class.

"OK" confirms a selected package and the game fills in the skills, feats, etc.

As is the game does not consider what package you selected when you press "configure packages".

As is the game does not consider what package you selected when you press "configure packages".

Of course the game consider it. When you click to "configure packages" you are allowed to customize and also you are allowed to use the recommended button. This recommended button has information from the first premade package.

//edited
In game the recommended button is highly controlled by the package you take, but there are many different builds and not enough packages. Then why to make them?
For me the recommended should be only a generic and unique configuration (in short something in the middle - not weak or strong).

I have interest to modify the destination of the packages button to configure packages (so you cant choose a premade package, you just gets the default).

The premade packages are not compatible with the recommended button for abilitys at the character creation.
Example: you would like to create a light fighter (you must to add dexterity and to use rapier for example)

In the list you have theese packages:

Default Fighter
Fighter, Finesse
Fighter, Pi...

you must pick the "Fighter, Finesse" so every 4 level up using recommended settings you got +1 point in dex.

ok you will be a light fighter but at the character creation your fighter used recommended abilitys and you started with 17 STR and 10 DEX.
what makes no sense...

Do u know nwncx_disablems.dll? It disables client account validation to eliminate timeout waiting

Im thinking in something about nwncx_disablepackages.dll that skips automatically to configure packages

maybe is it too complex?

Picking the package only has relevance if you press "OK".  If you press "configure packages" you will get the package assigned to the class in classes.2da under the column "Package".

Yes, the default package is what is referenced by classes.2da.  That Is what my first post was initially saying.

Now if you want to get rid of the "OK" derivative option there are two options on that can be performed on the client side.

In packages.2da you can either

1) Set the value under "Player Class" to 0 for all packages that are not the default packages.  (In theory this would suppress the option.)

2) Copy the lines from the default package onto the lines for the other packages that are selectable at character creation. (This will make selecting a package the equivalent of not selecting a package).
