Adding CEP
« on: January 13, 2014, 12:14:51 pm »

               Any help here appreciated..

I recently inherited a massive PW to host, it has been around since nwn was launched and has grown to a huge size.
The people that worked on the server designed and skinned much of the world themselves and thuis never moved the server to using CEP.
However I am not this talented and keep seeing some beautiful placeables and tilesets used in CEP but dont have access to them.
I tried downloading some NWN2 house placeables to use however importing the erf and putting the HAk into the folder simply resulted in my PW changing the names of some of my custom placeables to house names but remaining as whatever object they were before. (I guess this is something to do with somewhere amongst the 1.5G of haks for the server there are models that override the new ones I tried to import?)

How would one go about either adding CEP to the module or importing some new placeables so they are not overwritten by ones somewhere in the mass of HAks for this server?

Many thanks

That is a huge amount of work you need to do. Basically, there are lots and lots of 2DA files in CEP, and you need to merge those 2DA files with your own existing 2DA files. That means, every single placeable, model, head, cloak, etc needs to be at the same line. Else you will likely get the errors you mentioned above.

Also, there is a TLK file that needs to be merged in the same way.

This is a very rough and not so detailed description of what you need to do. '<img'>

Its what i suspect and not what I wanted to hear. Thanks though.

Any easy way of adding placable packs so they arent overwritten by stuff already in the modules?

Put the placeables in a new hak. Check for the placeables.2da file and put it in new lines with your own placeables 2da file. You can only have -one- placeables.2da.

What you basically need to do is edit the placeables.2da, the index in which all appearances of placeables are associated with a model. In your case you need to merge multiple 2da files so that specific placeables will be added to your module instead of overwriting/conflicting with the ones you currently have.

As said, your main problem is the 2da merging. While I am not an experienced module builder myself, I am sure that some will know of the existence of a nifty tool that will make your life easier while you are in need of 2da merging.

Edit:
2da merging is also needed for all other content that you may want to add to your PW, with the exception of tilesets and heads (if my knowledge serves me right).

Depending on how much editing you are trying to complete:
Either do each line by hand with copy and paste in notepad
or
Use a tool like the Codi Custom Content Helper (beta v.35)
There are other 2da tools but some work better than others.
Good luck

I think you might find a tool like WinMerge helpful here. It will compare 2 files and let you copy lines from one into the other. It is not totally automatic but should save you a whole bunch of time. As always, I would suggest archiving both files before any edit.
