Server stopped posting after content addition.
« on: August 31, 2013, 09:23:36 pm »

So, I downloaded CEP 2.4 and MGSkaggs Desert City Tileset, and I added them to the module.  I did my build, and after it was complete (an hour and a half later), I started up nwserver and managed to log in from my machine.  However... Now, it won't post to the LAN or WAN.  I did some digging and discovered I'd put the .hak files into the module out of the correct order and that I forgot to include the .tlk file.

My question is, would this be the cause of why the module posts but is grayed out and showing as offline?

**Note: I tried to put a backup module in as well and ran into the same issue. It's almost as if nwserver broke. **

This isn't a scripting issue, but...

If the module is failing to load, I don't think it will show the server as being online, and a wrong hak order could definitely cause the module to fail to load. I'd say yes, this is probably the cause of your issue.

Strangely enough, the server wouldn't load even with an older backup module. I "think" something in Windows 7 suddenly decided to block the port and would not allow connections to it. I dropped the firewall, checked my router settings, and nothing had changed as far as I could tell, so I'm at a loss. Maybe it was the ethernet adapter or something? Who knows.. I opted however, to just reinstall the nwserver stuff on my linux machine until I can figure out what in hades went wrong with this machine and it's connection.

Since I haven't installed anything, and haven't changed anything in the last few days, the only thing I can think of is Windows changed something for me without me knowing. *shrug*

Try with a totally different module, like one of the official campaign modules.

This is a little off topic but, I've recently abandoned Windows completely after getting a BSOD REPEATEDLY 'til I wanted to bang my head on the keyboard in frustration.  argh.. something about ati-something....blahblah...That stopped all work on my module and all play as well.  I had Ubuntu 13.04 (OZ Unity actually) installed on another partition and NWN is running on wine from the Windows installation. But my overrides aren't working and I was afraid to mess with the toolset too much while it was in the Windows partition and now I'm thinking of installing it properly using PlayonLinux.  Is that better or should I install it under linux proper? Any suggestions anyone?

Rio420,  I hope you don't have to reinstall Windows which is usually what happens when Windows misbehaves, just have to format the darn thing and reinstall then, 8 to 10 months later it misbehaves again...
