PWFXP2 - questions

This has all I want from an XP system...almost.

I don't like the grouping XP. It does like many other XP systems. It awards an amount, lets say 10%, extra per party member more than 1. First that bonus is too small for a party of 2-3. You'll still see people soloing cause they think that extra XP is not worth it...and they're right. First they are getting XP and loot halved and then they are not putting their extreme powerbuild to use (in a party of 2 for example). I really want to reward taking the step going to a party of 2....and then not reward mega parties so much...that 10% bonus is very stale and non-purposeful.

The diff from Average Party Level can be a little tricky for players to calculate on the fly but that part of the system is useful at least I think.

The problem with most custom XP systems that cater to party leveling, to encourage partying or for what ever reason, is they often reward too much XP for partying.

In return because you have to divide treasure, the party may be level 20 with level 5 gear on, and this a very common problem I have found on many servers.  You can get to level 20 real fast in a party, but you most likely will not have any good gear on to speak of...

Just saying..

Well...my problem was the opposite...that grouping is not awarded enough...only in very big parties...where it shouldn't.

I want soloers to feel the pain.

Then Parties of 2 to get good XP.

Parties of 3-5 players to get very good XP.

Parties of 6 players to get lesser than good.

Parties of 7 or more very little XP/feel the pain....

Something like that.

If you are interested I have created a 2da based XP system for my friend. There you can set up almost everything via 2da. I can share it if you like, just have to find it got mess on my harddrive.

Uploaded my system here. Documentation is in progress as I felt the 2da file is self explanatory. If you would have problem to understand it, then tell me I translate all my notes for that 2da file.

I designed a system a few....actualy quite a few years ago that took a different tack.

Here are some of the basics to what I did.

Firstly, the xp award is such that you can divide it into three portions for a party of three and have each player hapy with the award.

Next, should less than three players be in the group they still only receive 1/3 of the xp award for a kill with any unused portion being discarded.  This results in no reduction in xp's per player for being in a party of up to 3 but receive the benefit of being able to tackle tougher foes thereby increasing the possible award due to the ability to take on tougher foes.

I included the checking for henchmen as well with a 3/4 cut of the xp's going to them and effectively lost to the pc's as most henchmen systems handle leveling in their own way.

For parties largere than 3 PC's, well, they should be able to handle biger and badder foes so the xp reward should remain balanced.

There is more to the system, but this gives you an idea.

One note...I generally avoid the use of haks and 2da's in my work when possible and find work arounds when I can.  I find it generally simpler to install and easier to assimilate for most.
