Looking for a few things off the old vault..
« on: December 10, 2015, 08:09:01 pm »

Hey everyone, I'm looking for two tilesets (and something else) that were/might still be on the NWN Vault, don't remember the names of either one unfortunately, but I do remember what they looked like so I'll describe them.

The first one I think it was just the forest tileset re-skinned, and it mostly used the same watery/ethereal texture that the orb/shield uses in the 'Globe of Invulnerability' spell group. Might've had 'arcane' in the name but I could be thinking of that city castle re-skin..

The second tileset had only a single floating disc-like tile with 8 points like a compass. The rest of it might've had stars or empty black. There wasn't anything else you do with it except make a small demi-plane or entry/intermission zone.

The third thing I was looking for is a picture off the old Vault, under the "What's Wrong Here?" part of the comics section:

http://web.archive.o...omics/WWH.shtml

The one submitted in 4/23/2002 by 'Kkandraid', with the animated Gandalf, Tomb Raider, Link, and some other characters pasted unto a random screenshot of NWN. Used to use this as my background exclusively until I lost it in a HD crash. Can't get the full version of the image because web archive doesn't have it saved.. wonder if it still exists somewhere?

I just realized my descriptions are still a little vague.. would it help to make a couple quick drawings to illustrate the tilesets?

The description of the first one is way too vague. The best I can do is link you to a pair of pages that you get if you search for the tag of forest. Have a look through those and see if what you remember is amongst them.

The second one you are describing sounds a bit like the GHI Aethyr Tileset. Click the link and let us know.

1) Could this be shadow plane tilesets?

2) What TR said.

3) not in our dropbox. Searched articles we saved, searched nwn1/screenshots (ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/' class='bbc_url' title='Lien externe' rel='nofollow external'>ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/)

The second one could have it, but I searched xml file for terms "funn" and "wrong" and it revealed nothing.

That Aethyr tileset is the 'forest' one I was describing! It makes such an extensive use of the forest bridge tiles I forgot it didn't have trees..

Let me go check the screenshots on the Rolovault and see if I find anything, hopefully it has a screenshot of the second tileset I mentioned, if not I will make an image.

Screenshots won't have the tileset (1% chance maybe), I thouyght they might have the one picture you mentioned by kkandraid.

For tilesets look here:

or here:

Would that be it?

Ok, went through all 500 image categories, and while I didn't find the comic picture I did come across some interesting things.. ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/423/1246407395_fullres.jpg' class='bbc_url' title='Lien externe' rel='nofollow external'>ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/423/1246407395_fullres.jpg(Woodpecker!)

And some hilarious ones.. ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/9/1121359478_fullres.jpg' class='bbc_url' title='Lien externe' rel='nofollow external'>ftp://neverwintervault.org/rolovault/projects/nwn1/screenshots/9/1121359478_fullres.jpg

On semi-related note, while searching I came to learn that the most of the Generika strips were lost =(  I have almost the entire comic (way past strip 64) from the beginning to the cliffhanger ending in an archive folder if anyone's interested. There might be a page or two missing here and there, but for the most part it's all intact.

I saw some of these screenshots on moddb.com, give it a try.

What part of Moddb.com did you see them on?

Maybe mail author: kkandraid < that symbol > msn.com

Is that their actual email? Is there a way to find out what email they used when they submitted that? I remember trying to mail them at some point but there was no contact information.

Yes!! That's the one!

EDIT: Compared my comic archive to the 1-64 strip one on the Vault, looks like I didn't save the title cards at the beginning of each strip... Whooops. You can still make out where each strip ends because it will say "..continued tomorrow" at the bottom though. If my count is correct, I've got strips 65 through 232 (the final strip).

Please upload them somewhere!

Here you go:

http://www.filedropp...cstrips65-final

The 1-64 upload filled in most of the missing pages I had, so now there is only one strip (AFAIK) that is missing some, but the rest look fine (aside from the missing title cards). Also, the numbering method I used is not the same as the 1-64 upload. I went from 1 to 1600+ instead of whatever method they used, so you might not want to put these two collections in the same folder.

Enjoy!

Nice!

I'll migrate them over to here - http://neverwinterva...mic-strips-1-64

EDIT: Okay, I had to can the download. I don't know how large it is, and it's taking too long via this filedropper site. Someone else will have to grab it as I only have a limited amount of inet per month.

PS - Always DropBox it! Thanks for bundling these up regardless.

FP!

Oh, it's 77 MB I think. And yes it took a while for me to do a test download too, but it eventually opened it.
