Emitters. Resizing. Without bricks preferably.

Okay, to start, the sum total of my emitter knowledge wouldn't fill an average sized shot glass.  So, I've a simple question on how to resize the emitter attached below.


 


I tried re-sizing the model (both the whole model and just the dummies) and the emitter petulantly remains the same size.  I tried throwing a brick shaped thing, but all I did was break the emitter, and since those damn things are expensive I don't want to break another one.


 


Help please.

What have you got against bricks all of a sudden? There's nothing wrong with bricks. There's no problem in the entire cosmos that can't be solved by hitting it with bricks.


 


Yes, some collateral damage, or "mushing" as we scientists call it, can occur from over-zealous use of bricks... but...


 


Anyway, I'm taking your emitter away to examine it in case it's a weird emitter, but resizing them is usually a very simple matter. Answer on the back of a postcard when I've gone back to my computer and tested it. The emitter, that is. With a BRICK.

Well, I took a poisoned arrow from one of your demon--err--Spleens and my right shoulder is on-again off-again useless, so my aim with throwing weapons isn't so great at the moment.  Not to mention having to mouse and fiddle with Gmax with my off hand.  If I were a vengeful woman, I could almost say it's you're fault...but I'm not, so I won't.   ':whistle:'

Anyway, I've hit your emitter with a big brick a few times and it appears to scale normally like all those ludicrously huge VFX things I did... and keep meaning to update again.


 


1. Obtain a big brick.


2. Open your emitter in Notepad by hitting it with the brick... or clicking on it with the mouse if you really must.


3. Ignore the dummies, go straight to the actual emitter node(s).


4. Scan through all those nebulous and confusing lines and seek out the two called "sizeStart" and "sizeEnd".


5. Holding the brick firmly in whatever hand is unSpleenomized, hit those lines repeatedly until the numbers change.


6. You can just type new numbers with a keyboard if you're really set on not using bricks.


 


Those two lines are the heart and soul of changing the dimensions of emitters. Obviously I cannot tell you what numbers to put there because I don't know what size you want the thing to be. You should freely conduct unethical medical experiments upon the emitters until satisfied.


The higher the number, the larger the emitter should be.


 


You shouldn't need to alter any other entries in the model.

Emitter nodes, not the model size.  ':blush:' Goddess protect me, I knew that since I'd already done it a few months ago.  I guess my brain is too tired today, and I really do have to mouse with my off hand at the moment.  Time to step away from the computer for the rest of the day.

This does remind me I need to tinker around with emitters at some point for that void elemental concept I had


 


Where it seems to suck in emitters rather than give them off.
