Not necessarily.

Second item on the list.

I thought he meant the orcs in Q, the gorilla-like ones. The ones in monster mash were developed separately and added to Q later.

The ones I was looking for are pictured halfway down this post. I baked Project Q into Siege of Shadowdale, but for the current module I'm playing I don't want to bake in PQ, as it might cause glitches and bugs (mainly because I'm a newbie on this stuff; not a fault of PQ itself..)

I tried using the files linked by Malagant, but they don't seem to be overrides (they do look good, though!). None of the other files worked for me either, presumably because they're resources and haks, not overrides.

I guess I'll look into extracting the haks using NWN Explorer. That would be the easiest way, right?

Sorry about that, those Orcs are Q specific. The MM versions were added later and I've had these Orcs renamed on my server as Jungle Orcs for so long that I don't think of them as anything else. (I wish the variations in the left of this and this had made it in).

You can use NWN Explorer, but I generally use NWN Packer v0.1.0.3 (I've only found v2 on the NWVault, but you can get it from Sorcerer's Place toward the bottom of this page). NWExplorer gets finicky for me sometimes.

Hey Guys,

found this topic when searching for better panther models myself. I tried put the haks in my hak folder, but it's not working. I'm a total newbie, so I'm lost here. It's just for the OC... Could you help me please?

HAKs need to be associated to the module via the toolset.

So, you'd have to open up each individual module from the OC, add the HAKs, recompile the module, then start the module from the very beginning. It's not worth it, for a panther.

If you have a panther HAK that you downloaded, you can remove its contents of the reskin panther from the HAK with nwnhak.exe found in \utils and export those files to your \override directory.

You won't need to restart your game, just as long as the author of this content made this panther to override the official NWN panther.

So, if you have a link to this panther, post it so we can see exactly what route you'll have to take.

FP!

Hi Fester Pot! It's the panther from Baba Yaga's improved Creatures mod. Link here: http://neverwinterva...roved-creatures

Thank you very much!

So, looks like the panther you want is in the hak called baba_stuff02. To have it override the Bioware model without having to add haks to the OC modules, you can extract it from the hak as FP said. Here's how:

  • Open the program 'nwhak' - it's in the utils folder in your NWN directory.

  • From the file menu, choose 'Open', and select the baba_stuff02.hak file - it'll be in the hak folder in your NWN directory.

  • nwhak will display all the files within the hak you've just opened. The ones you want are 'c_cat_panth' (an mdl file - the model for the panther) and 'c_panther' (a tga file - the texture for the panther).

  • Right click on each of those files, choose 'Export' and export the files to your override file (again, in the NWN directory)

Once that's done, the new panther model should now override the one in game. It'd be a little more complicated if the creature you wanted was not set by the hak to override a standard one, but in this case it's already set to override the standard Bioware panther.

Also, it'll override the panther in every module you play (not just the OC) while those files are in your override folder. If you ever decide you want the Bioware panther back, just delete the files from the override folder.

Hope that helps!

It definitely helped! Thank you very much.

BTW, great work NWN_baba_yaga, this look much better than the original one.
