Greetings,
I've recently decided to dust off my NWN Diamond edition and am looking forward to playing with the latest PRC Pack of custom prestige classes. I also got the character builder/tester so that I could test builds before starting play and was dismayed that my proposed Necromancer/Lich doesn't seem to want to work for me.
I went about trying to get the Lich template via True Necromancer. I took 3 levels in Cleric followed by 3 levels in WIzard and then every level afterwards (7th and up) in True Necromancer. According to the Lich template description the only prereqs are that you be any non-good alignment, you can't have any levels in Baelnorn, you have to have the Craft Wondrous Item feat, and you have to be able to cast 6th level arcane or divine spells.
I leveled up enough in True Necromancer to satisfy all these prereqs, but the game isn't recognizing that my levels in True Necromancer have increased my spellcasting ability to the point that I can now cast 6th level arcane and divine spells. I used the character builder to see what would happen if I just levelled up as a pure Cleric or pure Wizard and sure enough I can choose the Lich template as soon as I reach high enough level (11) to cast 6th level spells.
Is this an oversight on the part of the creators of the PRC that the True Necromancer levels somehow aren't counting towards my spellcasting ability for the purpose of fulfilling the prereqs for the Lich template? Or is there some rule limitation that I'm not aware of that makes this a legitimate restriction?
Finally, if it is some kind of oversight and I SHOULD be able to go with the Lich template with my Clr/Wiz/TN build, how would I go about editing the PRC files so that the Lich template recognizes my TN levels?
Thanks for any help! I hope this is the right place... there doesn't seem to be too many active NWN forums these days '>
