EA Games Drops Gamespy Liscense Supprot @ July 30th

Long live Nwn community!

I would love to comment more fully but others above share my views too.

I have no time for EA's other maudlin games,

Because, I still have so many haks and modules to update and more content to create.... '<img'>

But I must say that the love and dedication of the "fan work" so far makes my days just that bit happier.

Thanks to you all......

And a special shout out    '<img'>  to those who work ceaselessly with scripts and making the various packages play nice together.

If it were possible to hack the exe and really expand this game, in all it's software glory, that would be the most fantastic thing ever !!  '<img'>

(It really is the best game)     '<img'>

Making a list for things we still rely on from EA.

Forums

1.69 Critical rebuild files

Premium module access

Premium module files

Anything else to add to the list?

Good points WhiZard,

However,

Forums can be reset into the Vault

Critical rebuilds I believe are in the Vault (If not, I'll gladly upload some of them)

Premium module files (No worries, also uploadable)

The problem really is module access. I just tried and my ID and PotSC would not launch on my Platinum edition.

So either the CD Keys will have to be sourced/shared out or someone really enterprising will have to permanently hack them soon........

Please?    ''

i believe the only thing on that list would be the forums

premium modules are accessed by the community now in unnofficial links found here

http://forum.bioware...remium-modules/

and 1.69 patch can be accessed by the community in unofficial links also found offsite not owned by EA

All of these files (not the links to them but the files themselves) are within the bioware.com domain which is owned by EA.  Unlikely for EA to get rid of them.  But it is still a reliance that we have.  If the files could be uploaded to neverwinternights.info rather than just linking to the existing bioware.com we would remove our reliance.  Although it is fairly likely that even if the bioware.com data is purged, there will still be duplicates on other user's computers.

Good going, should probably have moved the list to the NW Vault Restoration thread, as the discussion there is paralleling this one.

Yes, there are days when I really notice that my TV cable broadband is made for downloading, not uploading...

Ok, once again I am rebuilding Nwn into a new cpu system

Because I like the ID module, I have ventured into nwncx-0_2_8_cs (as can be found in the Vault, ty btw)

Modifying my Platinum Edition; selected dlls in place, using option one (NWNCX_loader)

I get a sys error :

MSVCR100.dll is missing from (cpu)

What is the way to correct this error?

Must I re-install the game as prompted?

Thxs

D'oh!!

C++ redistributable 2010 <its in the readme

However, though I can launch the game, the premium modules (which worked before) are still denied to me.       ''

If I'm havin this prob, then perhaps there are scores of others too...

What is the next step?

Solved...

First my firewall interfered

Then, upon a reset, I found that my internet cat5 was unplugged

The module launched without a problem  '<img'>

So, using the readme's option one (in win7x64), it appears that all is right in the configurations, but would some one knowledgeable please compose a overview of all the extender plugins and their respective dials and switches so that folks like me don't encounter problems.

Just a plain chart or some other, updated notation. Thxs.

So for @WhiZard...it is that easy and fast to avoid these new bumps in the road.

Let the game(s) continue !
