Blueprint Category Editing Question
« on: December 30, 2013, 03:11:40 pm »

By using the GFFEditor I can edit the blueprint categories for placeables file "placeablepal.itp". What I need to know is can I do the same thing for inventory items? If so, what is the name of the itp file that I need to edit and where can I find it? All help gratefully accepted.

I don't know for sure, but would ''itempal.itp'' facilitate what you are trying?

Probably. I would check it out but don't know precisely where to look for it. Is it in one of the bifs? Which one?

The itempal.itp is situated in data\\templates.bif together with a whole set of other .itp files. If there is a file you are going to need, I would assume that it is among those (I use Zoligato's NWN viewer for inspecting purposes)

quote from BioWare Aurora Engine ITP (Palette) File Format...

2.2. Skeleton Blueprint PalettesA skeleton blueprint palette is a blueprint palette that contains no blueprint nodes, but merely definesthe categories and tree structure of a palette. There is one skeleton palette for each blueprint resourcetype. The toolset recognizes the following skeleton blueprint palettes:

      creaturepal.itp
      doorpal.itp
      encounterpal.itp
      itempal.itp
      placeablepal.itp
      soundpal.itp
      storepal.itp
      triggerpal.itp
      waypointpal.itp

The toolset uses skeleton blueprint palettes in the "Assign Palette Category" step of the various NewBlueprint wizards and in the Select Category dialog when choosing the palette category while editingan object blueprint.

Note that the skelton palettes are used by the tool set in making the custon palettes.  They will be in the module (.mod) file.

creaturepalcus.itp
doorpalcus.itp
encounterpalcus.itp
itempalcus.itp
placeablepalcus.itp
soundpalcus.itp
storepalcus.itp
triggerpalcus.itp
waypointpalcus.itp

The standard palettes  will be in the bif's and are already made so the toolset does not mess with them.

creaturepalstd.itp
doorpalstd.itp
encounterpalstd.itp
itempalstd.itp
placeablepalstd.itp
soundpalstd.itp
storepalstd.itp
triggerpalstd.itp
waypointpalstd.itp

OK, I can find the custom palettes easy enough. Can I just rename the appropriate one and use that?

[Edit] Sorted - I used NwN Eplorer to extract the HotU version of the skeleton itp file.

Definitely sorted, however one quick tip. If at first your new categories do not show, Don't Panic! Refresh the palette and then if they don't show... Now you can Panic! (First attempt apparently (or so I thought) didn't work. Neither did the  other, then as a last resort I refreshed the palette...)''
