Tauric Request
« on: October 06, 2013, 09:56:07 pm »

I'd really like to see dynamic creatures with human upper portions and the lower bodies of creatures, where the upper body can be changed to different looks or clothing options. There are a few older centaur versions on the vault, but nothing new and some of the following races have never been done. Is it possible to do this as a tail or do they have to be new phenotypes?

-Centaurs: Normal or with wings (pegasus)
-Lamias: A few different snake tail patterns and colors
-Mermaids: Could do several kinds of tails and an ocopus bottom
-Driders: A few different types of spider bodies

There's a few sort-of-maybe working versions that you'll need to fenangle a bit into working properly

Driders are the easiest one. Ramas Obarskyr made a new phenotype for elves with Driders based off of Luna C and H20Rat's driders (The people who made the Weimec). You'd need to fenangle around with the Phenotype 2das and the TLK files, but outside of that this is pretty much plug and play

PC Maniac made a pretty decent Centaur batch, but they use the mounted animations and might not look 100% all of the time. Hardpoints looked to have been working on some using the standard player animations, but has since left the community

Mermaids are a bit tough. The classic way is to use Lisa's mermaid tail clothing bit, but I've always found the tail a bit small. 1whocan'tscript used a modified dragon tail which is bigger, but may not be to all tastes

Finally, nothing on the Lamia side. The best I can think of would be taking Fantu's Ophidians and building off that. Problem is I'm 90% sure that's just males, so nothing for female lamia.

Wow, I've never seen the mermaids and snake people before. A few problems with them after testing in a module...

The snake people can only be males, females don't exist at all. The animation makes the arms disjoint and do funny things: http://nwvault.ign.c....Detail&id=4690

The mermaid's animation is a little wonky and the tails curl up in a weird way as they move.

The centaurs hold their arms very oddly out while walking or running, and seems like the human torsos never got sized properly to fit the horse body (they need to be bigger). http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=433

Driders don't work for me after downloading the hak, I see nothing there under the alternative pheno.

Yeah. They use the mounted phenotype animations. Hardpoints one looked like it was going to fix that, but last I heard about his stuff it got released to the CEP team and therefore has pretty much no chance of showing up in anywhere approaching the near future

Fresh mod or another one?

i do believe hardpoints ended his project, something that is rather common within the community '<img'> i used to keep track of his progress and it just simply stopped like most of my favorite cc.

last i heard they were planning it to release to cep, but that didnt happened since hardpoints never (or refused) to release any content

               Fresh mod on the driders.

Since these are very old projects with the owners mia would it be acceptable for someone to fix the animations (and make the female lamias) and re-release them?

Hmmm. Try the mounted animations and make sure you load the tlk. I'm 50% sure that was actually added prior to horses

And shouldn't be a problem. They're not Lamias anyway, so it'd effective be a new project. If I know my NWN snake people, that'd be based off the Salamanders someone made way back when regardless
