               I don't know what's going on, I thought I'd run into or seen most the issues that would jump my way, but this one is confusing the hell out of me!

'Image

It's a head I am working on (from the back), the hair just seemed to up and disappear. I have used Reset XForm on all the model pieces, each of them is set to 'render' and 'shadow' (except one)..

The model has 5 pieces: the face, the hair, the hair bangs (the hair that hangs in front on the forehead), the piercings, and the jewelry in the hair.. Neither the bangs or the main hair seem to be working as intended, in fact, some of the hair shows (on the right side of the head, or left side from the back), but it's in a clump, and some pieces are just outright missing it looks like. I put flex onto the hair too, which the hair that DOES show cooperates properly, bouncing about as I intended, but the rest is still missing some reason.

Any help would be mega-appreciated. ':wub:'

EDIT:

Scratch that! I fixed the hair, but then the piercings disappeared! Oh and the flex seems to be supremely messed up, now that all of the hair is showing. *Sigh..*

               Could make a nice headless horseman!

I'm stumped. I hope one of the wizards get in on this thread.

               I've never worked with heads but I suppose that if the part we don't see is its own object separated
from the rest, you might have forgotten to link it to the aurabase.

Other possible issues would most probably be related to texture mapping, texture map presets or the texture itself.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just noticed your "Edit" addition.

               <feeling all...>

Just a shot in the dark here, but are your normals flipped? I.e. The "visible" side is on the inside of the hair?

What modeler are you working in?

Put the file up in a project and I'll take a quick look... if you do it before Starbucks closes :-P

               I totally got it working, and I don't know how. If you ever run into a similar problem guys, just do what I did! Reset Xform 20 times, unlink and relink 57 times, run around in a circle in a panic and scream "we're all going to die!" and well, it might work after all that. Also make sure texture paths are correct, like at least 6 times.

Should make this one sticky on the front page. Solution to everything. Been there.

Proof that 3ds max breaks the hell out of things sometimes.. I redid the changes in gmax, and it all worked. So, note to those who have both, gmax seems to like skins more than 3ds max does.
